Thanks Scooby for the info. Would it be too much trouble to attach a picture of the filter with the shutoff valve. The pictures you provided were great but it didn't look like the shutoff valve was included. Want to minimize the errors I might encounter. If not, no worries. I can figure it out myself. But thanks again for the info.

I grabbed a couple pic tonite. I dont know if its clear enough for you, but basically there is the filter, than the valves, after the valves is a 45* to kick the hose barbs under the aluminum floor support, then the fitting for the hose barb. Once again, the compactness of the BX comes into play with how things get plumbed. The valves are a VERY tight fit, I actually had to cut on of the valve handles off and had to grind one of the handle stops down a bit and remove the valve stem entirely, so it would clear the neighboring valve on the filter housing during install.

Im not feeling the valves 100% and may change them out. They are not full port 1/4" ball valves which I generally prefer. I had no choice in this case because there was not enough clearance to install the full ports. Im on the lookout for a compact full port valve in 1/4 to substitute in there. It hasnt been any issues in practice so far, but if I can, I like the highest flow possible. There is already a pretty significant restriction with the hose barb.

I was looking through my Photobucket and found this. I didnt scroll back through all 15 pages, but dont remember posting this one?

Anyways, this is why you install a filter like this (look at the bottom of the bowl, apparently this was taken about 150h ago):

Thanks Scooby for the pics. I should be receiving my filter and the hose you recommended early next week. I was thinking of using a galvanized bracket you would use for a deck and fabricate that but still up in the air. Next purchase I am thinking about is a plow that attaches to the bucket but will have to convince the boss...ha

For what it's worth, I did this modification a bit over three years ago and have yet to see any water in the bowl or replace the filter. I do not however regret taking the time to do it. I use a "Mr Funnel" for all of the fuel going into the tractor.

I've never seen crap in my fuel bowl yet either. Every time I look at other peoples Racor install they look so nice compared to mine. I got to learn to weld and work with steel.

Do you guys that never see any accumulation in the bowl keep your tractors inside or outside?

Mine lives outside 99% of the time. I believe at least some of the problems stem from Kubotas lousy fuel filler cap.

I also bought one of the Racor funnels for $50. It works, but it wastes a ton of fuel. If it filtered to the bottom of the funnel it would be excellent. I never use mine now.

Biggest advice I can give is to make sure you mount it back far enough that it will not interfere with your front tire went turning sharp AND when on a slope causing the front tire to swivel up. Had to move mine back to clear the front tire. I checked for the turning angle on level ground, but didn't think about when the whole front axle moves vertically. Also, I think one of my pic's shows a fuel shut off valve. No issues with mine, and NO fuel clogging issues either so far. On the whole, a great upgrade from OEM.

My tractor spends it's life in the garage when not in use. It has camped out a few nights, but not many.

I agree that it would be nice if the Racor funnel could pass all the fuel that is poured in. What I do is pour that which does not drain through the funnel into another funnel I have that has a small screen in the bottom and back into the fuel can. I don't loose much fuel that way. Every year or so I take the dregs of the fuel can and use it to clean parts of some such thing. Sounds a bit crude, but it's clearly working for me.

I did the same thing when I mounted mine.

The location and part of the plumbing of mine. No interference issues..., yet!

I was looking at this thread and realized I never said nice job Jason.

I have been thinking about the factory filter setup on the BX. I think it is mounted in a poor location. It is right in front of the hydro fan so there is some air running across it. That is not a good thing in freezing temps if there is water in the filter especially since the factory filter is so small. According to Napa the Wix replacement for the factory filter is rated 50 micron.

I had the filter off the BX today and someone mentioned putting a plastic bag on the fuel filler then put the cap on to keep fuel from leaking. I tried that and it still lets fuel out, so you will need a pinch off tool. I know Jason has said the fuel cap may let dirt in the tank. When I took the plastic bag off this is what I found.

What happened was there was dirt in the vent portion of the cap and the bag rubbed the dirt off. I bet when the cap is taken of the BX a small amount of dirt falls out of the fuel cap every time.

Here is what the cap looked like.

After some tapping and picking dirt out with a screwdriver.

So you guys may want to check and clean your fuel caps periodically.

Thanks for the compliments and good observation Roger. Personally I believe that the cap is the cause of many of the BX fuel issues.

Hello Guys, I haven't had a chance to get my Racor filter on yet but my BX was acting up too much to wait. So I installed the factory fuel filters to get me by the winter. The only issue I am having is that with both fuel filters being new, the kubota is still stalling out after some time of use. I checked the fuel filter next to the engine and noticed there was sizable air pocket in the fuel filter. Assuming that its not suppose to to be there, has anyone run into this before. Do you think it could be my fuel pump, leak in the fuel line (didn't notice fuel on the ground), glog in the flue line, and/or the gas cap being the issue? Just afraid that I will do the install and still have the same issues.

Here is my Racor. I made a stainless steel bracket that slides in between the front left floorboard mounting area. Just take out the one carriage bolt holding the floorboard, slide in the bracket, and but the bolt back through and tighten it.

I finally decided when enough was enough and added my filter. After a second clogged factory filter, it was time. The only issue I ran into was the filter being too close to the tire when turning all the way to the left on hill. 20150508_232753.jpg20150509_073109.jpg20150509_073116.jpg20150509_073122.jpg

Good install.. You'll be happy you did it. You really got to try to get the filter as close as possible to the loader support tube to clear the tire, thats really the only thing to watch out for.
