I am thinking about getting a Hobart Handler 140 MIG welder, It is on sale at Tractor Supply for $469.99
Hobart Handler® 140 MIG Welder - Tractor Supply Co.

I looks like it comes with flux-core welding wire.
I want to use this welder with gas what mix of gas do you recommend? 75% Argon- 25% Carbon Dioxide?
What wire do I need to buy and what thickness?

.030 wire will work great with the HH140. You can get the wire at TS, It should be Hobart wire. You will need a tank of gas 75/25 like you said. I am not sure of the welding supply comp. in your area.

For a little hotter puddle, I'd go with 100% CO2. But you'll get a little more splatter then with 75% argon & 25% CO2.

I have had one for a few months now, and it's been great. Got mine from Northern Tool for $449 with a coupon on top of their sale price. It makes real nice welds and is build real solidly. I have been using 0.030 flux core, mainly since I weld indoors/outdoors and it's always breezy here. I do plan to add a shielding gas setup when I have some time to experiment with it indoors.

May need to change polarity inside the machine if you go to a gas shielded wire. If you use the 75/25, go with ER70S6 wire.

Correct -- it ships wired for flux core (electrode negative). Would need to reverse the leads for gas.

I bought one of those welders a year ago for about that price. Use 0.030 flux wire. It's a nice machine for the price. Haven't hooked up the gas supply yet for MIG.

Good luck.

I am glad to see positive reviews, I did not know about switching the polarity of the machine when using gas, Thanks.

The ER70S6 wire is that wire a common wire?

Correct -- it ships wired for flux core (electrode negative). Would need to reverse the leads for gas.

I'm certain more than a couple small migs have been sold because the original owner wasn't aware of the polarity differences.
