Remote Hydraulic Hoses

Mie sells a kit for 350.00 with a separation for the FEL and a mount on the cross tube.

You can get a couple 14 ft hoses from TSC for $40 a piece. But the QD connectors and other fittings/adapters really drive up the cost and they are more complicated than NPT pipe fittings (many sizes and thread/end combinations). Mid length QD connectors make sense if you expect to remove the loader (mine has NEVER been off the tractor). Everything Attachments recommends just leaving the loader-end QDs lose (in one of their videos) zip-tied near the middle of the loader cross bar. In any case, you don't want them pointed up so they'd collect dirt and rainwater. I have bought stuff from Brian (MtnViewRanch) and was very pleased. When I encountered a physical interference problem (nothing Brian could have foreseen) he made it right at his considerable expense. I'd have no reservations with Fit Rite. MIE is good too but I haven't bought custom hydraulics from them.

TBN sponsor discounthydraulichose.com has about the best prices I have found on custom hoses. You pick the hose type, length (down to the fraction of an inch), and required ends. They typically can make and ship custom hoses in a day, which is great.

I didn't see a need for custom hoses. My dealer supplied me with 20' of hose. I ended up going to TSC and getting 2 5' hoses. I mounted the qd on the torque tube and the 5'ers from there to the thumb. I don't plan on taking my loader off so I saved the cost of mid point qds. I put 1 male and 1 female paired so I wouldn't mix the hoses up. As far as which one goes where just plug them into your remote. Operate your lever and if you would rather it work opposite then switch them.

My point is/was, NAPA generally is a cheaper place to buy them.... I guess I just thought you guys would already know that.

SR

In my area the NAPA store costs twice the price of TSC. 10 years ago I blew a 7' length of1/2" hose on my loader. I took the hose to NAPA and they wanted $53. to make a new one. TSC had ready made length of 7' 1/2" hose for $25.00. Both rated for 3000 PSI. Basically NAPA wanted $28. for the hose and fittings and $25. labor to crimp the fittings on. They are also much higher for auto parts than the AdvanceAuto right next door. I rarely use them if I can buy next door or on line.

Once you have the extra loader hoses on, use them for the loop when not using the back remotes to prevent running the hyd inadvertently. Hook the front together and plug the two in the rear, so a small loop is not needed.

Why are you guys using 1/2" hoses to feed a small 2x8 cylinder on a grapple? 1/4" or 3/8" at the most is all that's needed, its cheaper and easier to route also.
