Earthforce EF1D
hello. i am brand new to the forum and i just purchased a 2000 Earthforce EF1D. i have a problem already...it drove around fine for awhile playin in the yard then all of sudden the drive started to go in and out. it would drive for a couple feet then it would just stop pulling then a couple seconds later you could feel it kick in and take off again then do the same thing...i have no idea where or how to check fluid. i have no manual with it. there is fluid on the hydro pumps underneath like its leaking somewhere...does the hydrolic fluid supply the hydrostat drive? basically any input would be helpful. thank you

Been quite awhile since I worked on one of these but if memory is correct. The hydraulic tank is part of or just under the right side step to the operator platform. Check the fluid, the filter is also in that tank. Hydro pump & loader/backhoe pump are 1 unit. Remove the floor plate to see the pump and drive motor, look for leaks.

thanks for the reply. i removed floor board and noticed that when i pushed on gad pedal forward and backwards...i am gettin hydro fliud pushing up past the 2 pegs that the pedal pushes against.. im thinking thats not supposed to do that lol. so i pulled the 2 bolts per pegs and there are 2 o rings in each one that i am gonna replace...gotta wait til monday or tuesday til local o ring shop is open. also checked filter...says earthforce all over the filter so im assuming the filter was never replaced...800 hrs on machine. so i will start the task of trying ti cross reference and try to find a filter for it. does anyone think that the hydro oil leaking out around the pedal post could be causing me to loose presssure and therefore be my problem? just hoping thats all it is but dont wanna get my hopes up lol. thanx

It has been 10 yrs. or more since I have been inside one of those pumps, I'm fairly certain those pegs are the pilot pressure pistons so oil leak there can drop the pilot pressure and not stroke the hydrostatic pump. Could be just weak O-rings or some type of excess pressure build up that is forcing oil through the O-ring.

Bobcat purchased this company and had parts support for it. They made some design changes and rebranded them as B100 - B300 & also as IR BL275 - BL475 models. There are 2 filter elements to that filter assembly. 1 is return oil the other is suction filter. Part numbers are 696403 & 6961187. The EF1 is pretty much the same as B100.

If you run into more problems you may want to post in the Bobcat Construction Equipment to see if anyone else has had similar.

my son has a bobcat B200 4x4 he did some horse trading and ended up with it . it had hydro issues when cold it move then slowed down to nothing. well with a lot of research these machines r made in czech. with many diffrent brand name tags of other companys. but there about all made from the one company..there main problem is the hydro pump period they don't have a good cooling system and the fliud gets hot and breaks down and then u have pump failure.. bobcat wanted almost 6000.00 for the pump. we searched the internet and found a company that handles old new stock of the pumps complete for 2900.00 ... so we purchased one and the bobcat works wonderful.. the hoe and frt bucket worked perfectly with the bad hydro pump... and we could not find a hydraulic rebuild company that could find any parts to rebuild the old pump. r pump wass made in Italy... the company name that handles the old stock new pumps is Hydraulic Pumps & Drive Motors > Bobcat, Case, John Deere, New Holland, Scat Trak, and more! | Loader Parts Source.com and if ur keeping the machine u may want to up grade the cooling for the hydro system if it under the floor boards move it up in frt of the radiator for better cooling hope this helps ...

Yea I'm 99.9 percent sure that's what's wrong with mine but mine is the older 1999 earthforce EF-2. I have attached pics of the tags on the hydrostatic pump. Not sure if it's the same as the one for B200. image.jpgimage.jpg

the pump on the back of the hydro pump supplies power to the frt bucket and the hoe and the hydro to.. its like 13 to 15 gpm.. the hydraulic filters are in the tank we could only get are's from bobcat at 110.00 each we got two of them.. we flushed all the hoses and cly.of all the very fine cuttings of metal.. we took the tank off and flushed it out to there is a metal pick up screen in the tank u can clean that one no need to replace it... do it right the first time u cut corner with hydraulic u will be doing it again..

I haven't removed the pump yet. I'll probably do that tomorrow. Supposed to rain here in SC.

Ok, I pulled the pump today and have determined that the pump is made by Bondioli and Pavesi (Italian company), but fortunately there is a branch of the company in Virginia. I called the company and told the guy my model number and he said it's still in production, and that they would be able to check the pump out and diagnose it for free. He said I would have to get with my local distributor (in my case Hydradyne out of Charleston, SC) and have them send it back. I called Hydradyne and he said that they do their repairs in house. Either way sounds good to me and I am planning to send it to them tomorrow. No word yet on a price, but hopefully it wont be near as much as a new pump. I have attached some photos to this post that may help others having this same issue. My machine is a 1999 Earthforce EF-2 loader/backhoe. The pump model number is in the photos.IMG_1979.JPGIMG_1989.JPGIMG_1988.JPGIMG_1987.JPGIMG_1986.JPGIMG_1985.JPGIMG_1983.JPGIMG_1981.JPGIMG_1980.JPGIMG_1990.JPG

I have an EF-2. What parts are you looking for?

/ Earthforce Hydrostatic Help Please #19
I am looking at a used ef1 at a pretty good price my issue is where to get parts don't want to drop good money on something if you can't get parts,
the machine seems in great shape but just like anything else if it's mechanical it will break.

Through my research on these pieces of equipment, they are almost exactly the same machine as a TRAILBLAZER backhoe loader. There is a guy out of Ohio that I had spoken to a while back named Greg who said he can get almost any parts needed for them. I will attach the contact info for him to this thread. Hydradyne LLC can do all of the hydraulic pump rebuilds. They didnt want to take the pump off the machine, but I removed the pump and took it to them and they were able to rebuild it and test it. So far no problems and that was a few weeks ago.
