Question about steel strength??

Not comfortable with the amoung of flex shown in this video. At what point would they bend or break?

Yeah lots of flex but a key detail is that tractor is probably twice the weight of a B7800 and it lifted the front wheels.

Was he trying to change the front tires on the car? or on the tractor?

Eh......He was trying to change the fronts on the ford:laughing:

This is what I was thinking of building. Planning to modify the
design so that it can also be used on my FEL.

Also modifying the lower frame to multiple receivers to allow
for differenent fork positions.

Log Skidder, Forklift, & more for 3-point hitch

Though it would be pretty versatile used both front and back,
removable forks, and also use as a log skidder.

With the style of fork receiver and material used, will there be flex in the forks using the 2x2x1/4" steel tube?

The plans are load tested to 2000 lb load capacity.

Yes, certainly. You could put those 2,000 capacity forks on a bigger tractor and lift your entire B7800.

The 2000# capacity is probably assuming and even load. like distributed on a pallet. Not right out at the tip. Or worse, the tip of just 1 fork.

"Yes, certainly." means these forks will flex?

Sodo and LD1...What is your opinion of this design-worth building?

The design is fine. I probably wouldnt do it just like that, but who knows. I tend to work with the material and scraps I have laying around. I have made 4 different 3PH trailer movers. 2 were out of existing truck hitches, two were from scratch. NONE of them are the same. Just work with what I got at the time...

That's funny.

Sorry, certainly they will flex and certainly they will be strong enough. Probably won't flex as much as that old ford tractor though. Maybe one at a time (?).

The 2x2" forks insert into 4 1/2" cut pcs of 2.5 x2.5" x 1/4" tubing, acting as receivers.

I there any way, or need, to improve upon this receiver design?
