Ahp Tig welder 200x

As for being the platinum standard; just walk into any racing/fab shop and they all run Blue!

As for your claims of 20% duty cycle at 200amps. It is a moot point as why would you buy a 200amp machine and run it full out all the time?? Math doesn't add up! Nobody buys a 200amp machine to run full out all day everyday.

I will take into consideration components you have mentioned and features.

Thanks

Well, what's the verdict? Kind of a stale thread, but I ordered the 2015 AHP today after a ton of research. We have a couple of $13,000 Millers at the shop where I work and my best TIG guy was raving about an Eastwood which was where my research started. Looking at the welds on the video reviews I watched I think I can get by in my home shop with the AHP 200x. Everlast would have been my 2nd choice.

You look at Lincoln race calendar's and you look at Miller race calendar's and they could be interchanged. A lot of welders preferred Lincoln conventional transformer machines over Miller. Esab and all the brands they've bought over the years have some good TIG machines as well. Miller Dynasty's have earned a great reputation and were one of the first big name inverter TIG machines. The early ones weren't very good with stick though. What's the best now is anybody's guess. It also depends on how you determine best. Best at all costs, best value, most options, etc.

Exactly the point. Which is better for a daily 30 mile commute to the office; Porsche 924 or Volvo diesel? I say Volvo, but another guy needs to take his 24 year-old secretary to a bar and cheap hotel 3 times a week and she may not ride with the old man in anything less than a Porsche. Of course the Volvo would be better for taking his grand daughters to soccer practice. I've repaired Esab, Miller, and Hypertherm plasma cutters and if they're out of warranty you might as well punt.

I can get you longevity machines at a very good price. The new version of the 200ex is very nice

Love the analogy!! Pretty sure I'd rather have a diesel Volvo than. 924 tho, ugh.

For all we know, The Miller Is an AHP. Miller only assembles now and have for nearly 3 years. People buy Blue because it's Blue now days. God only knows whats inside. Not bashing, Just stating a fact.

Bzzzzzzt. Wrong answer. Non-factual...

How about when I get mine I take both the AHP and a Miller apart. I'll count the number of Chinese IC's in each, inspect board and socket solder technique, etc. There's irony here in that history is repeating itself. In the 50's Japanese manufactured machinery was considered shoddy and prone to failure. Remember the immortal words of Doctor Emmitt Brown, "Made in Japan!? No wonder it failed!"

No, corporate greed here. It's a completely different factory, better parts and much higher production cost period by a wide margin for the Everlast unit. But again, the 200X meets a certain market segment the Everlast 200DX doesn't. It's for people who want to get into TIG the cheapest way they can, without concern given to quality and brand of internal components, warranty or design. And there's nothing wrong with that because if a person needs something and is only concerned about the bottom line the 200X is a good value. But trust me we could go round and round on this. If the 200X meets your needs, why not go ahead and get it?

Well said brother, if it does the job you need it to do then it was a good buy, name brand is secondary to performance needed
