Ok, Let me explain MY THOUGHTS. I have no control over what thoughts go through your head when reading words.

First. "Nero Fiddled while Rome burned" is a popular figurative expression not necessarily a recount of factual events. The expression is used to bring emphasis to a situation where someone who might be held accountable is in fact without a care over a bad situation, and may in fact be contributing to it.

The main point however is that in spite of anyone's poor opinion of today's young people, YOUNG PEOPLE are our future, and so far youth of every generation has not done such a bad job of advancing the human condition, all in all. I contend it will be the "older generation, the ones in power, that falling to the insanity of their position, will bring down civilization. History has demonstrated this theme time and time again. History does not deceive.

So there. clear?

My twelve years of college is wasted because I didn't write out my full thesis for lack of time.

FWIW, I've run into outsourced English speakers working for Comcast who sound as though they are Americans (as in their vernacular lacks the usual use of extra adjectives normally associated with Indian-based English speakers), but also lack an awareness of American culture (because they don't live here) yet, claim to be based here in the States. Thus my assertion, groundless as it may be in your view, that "To me it seems like the OP was speaking to out-sourced English speakers on foreign shores."

Kowboy, perhaps a course in music appreciation would expand your tolerance of various tonal horizons leading to acceptance of numerous melodic genres.

1 in 51 kids have autism today. Not long ago it was 1 in 200. When I was a kid it was less than 1 in 10,000. Look at that trend line. These are the youth who will inherit what we leave them. Do we care....no we don't or we would have solved the autism epidemic. Pollution lowers IQ. Do we care- no because we ignore pollution. We've got problems that are real. but we live for today, ignore tomorrow. What we are leaving for a legacy dwarfs whether a kid knows what the EPA is. How many know of the glysophate cancer link? Does anyone care- nope. Why is our cancer rate so high? We have chemo pills- why worry about it. It is good enough to leave it alone.
Kids are a reflection of the adults that raise them.
We need to look in the mirror when we see a kid do something stupid, or say something dumb.
