I am not sure. The brick work was done that way the entire time. They put these wire connectors in the brick that matched up to the block to tie it all together along with mortor in between. After I thought about it some more, I know it was leveled and measured to the outside. He put up metal square posts to run his strings. I guess if you did the inside blocks there would be no guarantee it would be flush to the lines.

Picked this up last week off Craigslist. HD wants $100 day, I think I can use it for a year and resell it for more money. I may have to replace a chain (not the digging chain but a drive chain, it should not be very expensive. Groundhog MFG in California gave me all the history with the serial number as to when it was sold to HD and sent me a complete parts lists with pricing. After they had a Service Rep look at my pictures I sent, they said the blades were fine and not to replace anything that they could see. Super good customer service and support. Very nice people to deal with.

Used it to trench a 3" wide hole 18" deep to set my conduit for the feed lines for shop power and a water line sleeve. 2' up and 2' out under ground 3" PVC Pipe.

They will put chair lifts under the mesh before it is poured.

Not sure where we ended up. Should have been 28 yards for a perfect pour. I think we were at 31 and then an additional 6 yards.

Plenty of help. Learned lessons from past pours. You cannot have too many hands on board.

They started at 7:30. All concrete in place by 11:00 and they were still working it when I left at 4:00.
Perfect day to pour. Now I understand why the builder wanted to pour before putting up the walls.
The last shot was about 2:30. We had one spot that was a little wet and they had to keep working it. I am looking forward to seeing it early Saturday. It was looking as smooth as a babies butt.

What is the purpose of the wire mesh laying on top of the plastic and at the bottom of the concrete?

He mentioned they would be installing chair lifts to hold the wire up. The other method is to manually pull the wire up into the concrete as you pour and before you screed. I personally hate the wire, too low or too high in the 'crete and constantly grabbing your boots.

I read that, but its impossible to walk on wire and pull it up at the same time, which is why you have to use the chairs. But it's pretty clear in that first picture that there are no chairs and they just poured the concrete right on top of the wire. It's so bad that I don't even think that the bottom of the wire even got wet. How long until this cracks and how bad will the cracking be? There is absolutely no wire "IN" the concrete. I would save this picture so I could sue the contractor once it starts to fall apart.

Zoom in to the right of the screed. I see the wire up into the concrete an inch or so most of the way to the right. It does look like there's an area where the wires on the plastic. That's the problem of no chairs, no consistency. It's hard work to pull the wire up stretching out in front and bending over every 4 to 9 sf. And since it gets covered so quickly, very little wire makes it into the concrete.

Looks like your concrete got poured thicker than planned.

Thanks for sharing. Enjoy watching projects like this.
