Your towing rigs and trailers

Cool picture and proof not every tow required a 3/4 ton truck SUV...

Do you have a profile shot with trailer?

When I worked in Europe I would see passenger cars towing campers all the time and found it strange the same manufacturers would not allow the same models to tow in the U.S.

One of my friends had a daughter into competitive riding and they towed their horse trailer everywhere with a mercedes wagon... another had a camper towed with his BMW 325iT...

Back in the 70's and 80's we used big American Wagons to tow horses and stock... Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser with a 455 and Ford Country Squire Wagons with a 429... even towed my brother's horses with my 72 Dodge Challenger and the old horse trailer was single axle... no brakes...

I would like a 3/4 ton truck, but for reasons beyond just towing (moving material, etc), but people just want an arm and a leg for garbage and the price goes up from there... so, until I'm in a position to drop some stacks on a decent vehicle, this is what I'm using :)

let's see, profile shot.. well, I'll toss up a couple and see if that answers the request ;)

(had to take the car and the trailer to the dmv for paperwork and tags, so... why not)

heaviest thing I've moved to date:

there's a dip in the driveway right where the back of the car is, that's why it looks caved in right there.

I was looking to see what kind of hitch setup you have.

Interesting trailer... it is aluminum?

OEM receiver with a custom heavy duty hitch. volvo used a funky rectangle thing, and a buddy of mine used to work at a fabrication shop, so the hitch itself could withstand more abuse than anything else on the car. the receiver I believe is a class 2 (only the OEMS are, all the aftermarket ones are class 1), it's fairly heavy duty itself.

trailer is aluminum, one of the reasons I can get away with the stuff I do (well, most of the stuff), and still keep things fairly close/under the rating for the car. I think it's an old u-haul trailer but I'm not positive. it tilts, which makes loading and unloading nice and easy.

Nice truck! What's the tow capacity for a "bumper pull" trailer on that truck? The "no frills work trucks" are getting nicer and nicer these days!

What is the realistic price of that truck? Not asking what you paid, but what is the 'going rate' for that model? MSRP is deceiving.

Thanks Piston, I think with the DMAX it's 14,500 pounds and 17,900 with the gooseneck, i would have to check. Mid forties to lower fifties, I know that covers a lot , depends on dealer and discounts. It actually is pretty nice, it's power, has the led lights to light the bed at night. I am going to add towing mirrors here pretty quick, leveling kit, 20 inch wheels, 33 inch Toyo open countries, warn winch and replacement bumpers on both ends. My 14 was a DMAX in a Chevy LT, it was too nice for having cows and pigs. I wanted a work truck for ease of cleanup. Fuel mileage is about the same as the other, bumping twenty empty on the highway and averages 16.5 pretty much all the time. I would get a gasser but tow heavy way too much. LUTT
