Utra low sulfur VS High sulfur dyed ?

New Jd 1025 that says Ultra Low Sulfur ONLY! Is this more for emissions or will the high sulfur dyed deisel work well with NO problems? I don't want to damage a new tractor, but don't want to spend more than I have too either.

For a long time many diesel consumers believed that the non-taxed off-road fuel was still high-sulfur fuel and only the on-road fuel was ULSD. The only difference currently in the two fuels is the red dye used to distinguish the taxed fuel from the non-taxed fuel.

Id be having LYKINS energy delivering the fuel.I think It's listed on there board as high sulfur?
Everyone just calls it farm fuel.
When I used to have a oil boiler what was delivered by another company was #2 hi sulfur dyed deisel

Ditto this. Home heating oil and diesel have been ULSD for many years now.

Dyed means it's off road diesel and not taxed -- has nothing to do with the sulfur content. As far as I know, you can't even get high sulfur diesel anymore. Everything has been ULSD for a long time here.

I'll ask Lykins about the sulfur and the JD dealer about using the dyed deisel. Just don't want to void any warranties or damage a new JD

Dye won't affect the warranty and is normal for off road diesel. Sulfur will void the warranty and damage a new diesel.

My neighbor, who uses about 2500 gallons of diesel/year, has said its been ULSD in our area for years.

Strange - I've got diesel from him and its not dyed. He has told me that he must file forms to recover the taxes charged. We must not have dyed off-highway diesel in this area. OR the supplier he get his fuel from simply does not dye his fuel for farm use.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm hoping the dyed diesel is the same sulfur content as the ultra low and asumming the dye doesn't affect anything.

Your making a big thing out of nothing. Same,same been that way for years. Do a search on TBN and you will find many threads on fuel here.
