Good Morning! 69F @ 8:00AM. Partly to mostly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High around 80F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph.
Sorry for your loss, Thomas. Some would say it's just a cat, but a cat can be a family member, too.
iPhones come with an app called, appropriately enough, Find My iPhone, Eric. Trust me when I tell you, it works. Don't know about android, but it's very likely they have something similar.
Drew, I think the hookah smoking caterpillar used one of those shrooms for a chair in Alice's Wonderland. No worries about that fire near Cobb, but when I got home yesterday the valley was full of smoke from a smaller one only a few miles distant. I think my house would be safe even if a fire burned here, as it's sided with stucco and roofed with concrete tile. The problem is that power would be cut and I wouldn't be able to use even a hose to try to fight any small flames that would burn to the edge of the non-flammable mulch that surrounds the house itself. And if I did evacuate, likely I wouldn't be allowed to return for days, leaving the home open for looting. I guess that's what fire insurance is for, but I wouldn't be looking forward to fighting the adjusters over the replacement value of all the Craig's List orphans I've rejuvenated.
Buppies! Welcome back!!!
Good luck with the tooth, Don. Don't forget the Crown Royal!
Traveled nine hours north to the little town of Maupin (pronounced Moppin) in Oregon for a rendezvous with other airhead riding motorcyclists last Friday. Back roads all the way to Bend, then slogging through weekend escape traffic for an hour or so before making the turn off on 197. On arrival I was greeted by another fifty of my closest friends and fellow campers, only a few of which snored loud enough to shake the surrounding trees. Nearby restaurants served up great food, the sun felt good on our faces, and the air was a perfect temperature for drinking beer and bench racing. Saturday was spent with more picnic table relaxing, and though yesterday's return route was just Friday's in reverse, in Susanville I decided to mix it up a little with a bit of back road dirt through the forest. Though it saved me about fifty miles, it took a half hour longer, but time spent exploring rutted tracks is still much better than dodging weekend traffic around Lake Almanor.
Hope everybody's week gets off to a great start!
