In most brands, I think the engine, transmission etc in a SCUT are essentially the same as the smallest CUT. Therefore cost has to be close. In my case, I chose the 2320 (smallest CUT) over the 2305 (SCUT, now the 1000 series JD) because the cost difference was not great and the advantage of larger tires and increased 3 point range seemed well worth it. It appears the OP has a little less land than I do so maybe the SCUT fits better.

I would have made the same decision on getting a CUT over a SCUT if I didn't have such tight spaces to work... and relatively small property (1.5 acres). The small tires on the BX just appear a little too small and I have beat the heck out of the front tires/wheels/steering linkage but she still is kicking nicely! :) I definitely am happy with my decision.

IMHO the right size tractor is the biggest tractor that fits everywhere it needs to go (that may include your trailer) and fits your budget. In many cases that may well be a SCUT. But just because you only have 2 acres doesn't mean you are restricted to a SCUT. 2 acres is ~90,000 square ft. You can turn a decent size tractor around on 2 acres :D

I only have 2 acres and if budget were no issue I'd probably have a 150hp New Holland Bi-directional

I am working with 4 tracks of land which is 24 acres combined, and I help my Grandparents on their land. I wish I had gotten a TLB like a JD110 or a Kubota M59. A TLB series packs way more punch than a tractor.

They are not a ripoff. There are a lot of us who have them, are happy with them and get a lot of work done with them.

I don't know pricing on any of them except Kubotas. Go to the buildmykubota site and build the one you want. Then take about 10% off that price and consider that's about what most other people have paid for a new one. Some will have paid a few dollars less and some will have paid considerably more.

If you're the type that hates the thought of a dealer making a dollar off of you, then I'd encourage you to remember that you want the dealer to be around when you need service. And the only way they will be around is if they turn a profit. Just like a restaurant . . . . ;)

There's no reason to get pissed off. It's just business. You want to pay as little as possible. They want to sell for as much as possible.

I just picked up a used B21, while not as small as a BX, I like my little mighty mouse A LOT. There is much to be said for a small tractor that is maneuverable and can get jobs done my larger tractors can not. Granted, my larger tractors can outwork the little B in a wide open space, but they are of no use in spaces only the little B can go. There is a reason small tractors command proportionately higher prices, but don't forget, they resell high as well. Just get a good brand and you will be fine.

Less metal, less money, less horsepower, less money. Less tire, less moeny. Thats my beliefs.

^^^ I agree, Some of those new SCUTs must be plated in gold... :)

Still would like to have a SCUT -but it won't a new one with the prices they command.

So far all my equipment is used -some well used and I always figure out the price per pound:D

so far they have all been bargains- But i am willing to work on any of them if the need arises.

Something you won't have to deal with when buying a new machine. and that is (Priceless) for many

Nikko, good food isn't based on its weight . . Its based on its quality of ingredients and the skill of its creator/cook. That is true of tractors too.
