LS Tractor Oil, Gas, & Air Filter Information

/ LS Tractor Oil, Gas, & Air Filter Information #171
Hello everyone,
I have just purchased my first LS. It is a R3039. My closest dealer is 100 miles away, so I've been doing some searching for filters and came up with the following by first using the wix site to convert from LS. Next, I put the wix numbers into the fram site to convert from wix to fram and believe it or not, the fram site lists many others makers as well. Below, you will see some of what I came up with, but I cannot state that these filters will meet all LS specs or if using these products would void your warantee. So, for what it is worth:

By taking the WIX numbers for oil Filter - 57040 and the hydraulic filter 51715 and cross referencing, I came up with the following:

OEM oil - 40056451 hy - 40007638
NAPA oil - 7040 or 1365 hy - 1715 or 1613
WIX oil - 57040 or 51365 hy - 51715 or 51613
Fram oil - PH6607 hy - CH2821B
AC/Delco oil - PF1127 or PF1237 or PF2132 hy - AC91 or PF813
Bosch oil - 3300 or 72182 hy - N/A
Motorcraft oil - FL816 hy - FL273
Puralator oil - L14612 or L14622 or P1285 hy - L49127 or P127
(oil = oil filter and hy = hydraulic filter)

For the fuel filter - 40223960, Ive sadly only found Wix - 33830 although it would appear a company in Europe called Pozarli makes one as well, which is an FC830.

Air Filters Ive not yet looked for air filters, but real quick check yielded:

OEM out - 40007575 in - 40049447
NAPA out - 6438 in - 2985
WIX out - 46438 in - 42985
Fram out - CA9550 in - CA9550SY
(More available on Fram site from other manufacturers - out = outside air filter and in = inside air filter)

Thank you for the info twoforty.

I am getting ready for the 300 hour so will come in handy. Just an update on my LS 3039. Bought it June 2014...has 260 hours on it since then. If the 300 hours is as easy as the 50, it is not real bad to do yourself. The unit has performed well for us. It is not heavily used, mostly bush hog, box scraper, a little cultivator work and the majority, moving downed tree debris for burning. I realize 18 months and 260 hours is not a lot of data...but I would buy it again.

I'm glad to be of some help, but again wish to remind you and all:

"I cannot state that these filters will meet all LS specs or if using these products would void your warrantee."

The big factor is whether the replacement parts that are not OEM meet an industry standard. If they do, I believe the Magnuson–Moss Act would guarantee that they could be used. So the key is to make sure that the parts do meet industry standards for the equipment, which most will.

I need to buy a Napa oil filter for an XR4046HC and need some help, because I'm seeing conflicting information.

In post 123, nvmyhd lists the Napa oil filter number as 1056.
In post 168, 2015 LS XR4046H says he used a Fram PH3614, which cross-references on the Napa site to Napa oil filter number 1348.
When I use the Napa filter lookup site and search using the tractor model number, it says to use Napa oil filter number 7000.

This is crazy. Does anyone know why so many different numbers would be listed?

The original post with the 1056 was what my dealer told me to use. I used it at 35 hours and found that the filter is actually a shorter body than the original.
That why I wanted to find a more correct filter and went with the Wix 51348 originally it said 15 micron vs 21 micron for the 51056. I just checked again and now it says 21 micron....
51056Part Details
51348Part Details
511348XPPart Details

My dealer does the high altitude testing for LS and is a NAPA dealer and the original numbers are what he recommended.
I will continue with the 51348 / 1348. But do use what you feel is best for your tractor.

The 7000 looks to have a diffrent dia.(larger) the the two I have used.

Thanks nvmyhd. Surprisingly, the 1348 is the same filter that our little New Holland 20 hp diesel uses. That works out nice.

Help with fuel filter removal.
Suggestions for stopping fuel (gravity feed) for filter change. Best place and what to clamp?.
Surprised LS did not put in a shut off switch for my R4047.

doing a 300 hr maintenance. Followed manual but after draining a quart or two decided I needed further advice.

I took the input line off and QUICKLY stuck a bolt in the hose. I agree, very poor design, it should have a shut-off valve!!!!
