Gooseneck or bumper pull?

4x4 and a ELock rear axle is what I got and it's amazing the places where you can get.

I think you have vastly underestimated the extra weight the GN will weigh.

from the PJ website.

a 24' bumper pull 6" channel 14K equipment trailer curb weight =3400lbs
a 22' "classic" GN 14K GN weighs 4720.
a 25' is 5100lbs

Thats 1300lbs more for a GN with the same dual 7K axles under it.

my personal .02 is always for bumper pull.

Just curious; how much is usable floor space on a 24 bumper pull vs. a 22' GN. Is the floor space on the 24' BP about 21'? Is the 22' GN floor space 22'? If so then the weight difference would be the hitch from the added length would make the difference up in weight. The BP would seem to have 5% more floor space. I know my 28' GN is looong. Maybe about 37'.

image.jpgI find the GN a lot easier to back up and into places. Most the length of GN well is over in your bed so total yes it longer off the truck but not much on it. I find pulling the GN is way less stressful than the bumper pull, they just pull so much better loaded.
Heck keep the Bp you got and get the GN too, that's a win win...

One can also shift that 1,300 pounds onto the rear axle of the truck... now you've got the same trailer axle capacity capacity and the increased stability.

Still shopping. Looking at Load Max. Been too busy to make a move.

Been traveling for work and deer/hog/pheasant/quail hunting is priority right now. Really nice to see quail population up.

I outgrew my 7K H&H 20' BP tilt bed trailer last year. I had a GN a few years ago but as mentioned before, have to swing wide on turns, it cut corners short and tough to back up in a narrow drive and it weighs about 1k more than BP. I sold the H&H and bought a 22' (actual length 23'9" deck) PJ 14K full tilt BP. This PJ model places the axles further back and makes it easy to handle. Tows great and easy to back into my tight drive.
Make sure you check your truck receiver hitch capacity tag. I had to upgrade mine. I bought a Curt class 5XD hitch. I use a 25K rated 2 5/16" ball on a WD hitch
Curt XD Receiver Hitch specs:
Towing Capacity
Weight Carrying Capacity: 16000.0 lbs.
Tongue Weight: 2400.0 lbs.
Weight Distribution: 17000 lbs.
Weight Distribution Tongue Weight: 2400 lbs.

I have a 20' BP, a 25' GN deck over and a 25' 5th wheel camp trailer that is converted to GN wiry a Ranch adapter. I tow these with a 2012 Ford F-350 4x4 ccsb. We carry a variety of loads including two older jeeps at a time on the GN, my Fergson TO-35 with a variety of attachments, depending on what we're doing, and a lot of building materials. Since we got the GN the BP car trailer hasn't moved. The GN is made by Gatormade and handles , backs and loads way easier.

Are these comparing the same width trailers, both deckovers, same crossmembers, tails, ramps, no deck on top of goose, etc? 1,300 lbs sounds like way too much if only difference is hitch.
