Concealed Carry Regrets?

I regret that a permit is required. To purchase a handgun, you have to pass a background check. That should be enough as far as government is concerned. Of course, education and training is always helpful.

I also regret that French citizens didn't have concealed guns when attacked by terrorists. Same for the people who were attacked in San Bernardino.

No permit required in Wyoming for a concealed weapon.

Here we can carry concealed without a license. Public buildings will be required to allow concealed carry unless they can prove they can protect you.
This is going to go into effect I think in 2017.
Open carry has been legal in all but cities that outlawed it. Now the state forbids cities from forbidding carrying firearms. You can keep your firearm in your vehicle anywhere.

That is very interesting.

I worry about the time when maybe I'm riding with someone that is anti gun and we go into a place that doesn't allow carry. If its my own vehicle, not a problem I can go back out to it and leave it behind. So far this hasn't happened.

I regret that I have to carry a weapon because of the line of work my wife's in.

It's a shame that times have gotten to this,,
Use to never hear of carjackings.. Now, it seems to be the norm to carjack someone at gunpoint

Knowing it is against the law in certain places and still carrying in those places makes one a criminal. No better than any other crime. Can't just choose the laws that suit my temperament at the time.
The point here is "breaking the law". Someone posting a sign indicating a position which is contrary to a law on the books IS NOT A LAW. Carrying in a place of business (other than government offices) should not be considered breaking the law if the law of the state allows outside carry or concealed carry. The posting is just an advisement of the business owners preference and to my thinking the very most he could do is ask you to leave or escort you off the premises.

Now as to government offices where a sign is posted, this comes under the right of government to restrict firearms and even knives and other weapons due to possible endangerment of the public. Considering that most if not all of these restricted areas will have LEO present as a protection for you, then they can enforce the no weapons rule. This is much different than a local business who provides no protection to you but wants no firearms on his site which is pretty stupid action on their part if you ask me. Any person with intent to commit a felony is not going to honor the sign just as they would not give up their guns to the government if the 2nd amendment were to be denied to all.

As the old saying goes, ONLY the crooks will have guns which has been shown to be true in all countries that took away the citizens right to carry. If I were a robber, I would work in a country that didn't allow guns so I would be pretty sure that my victim would be unarmed, same with robbing a store in the USA, I would look for the business that posted no guns allowed.

Have you ever had a gun pointed at your face at close range??
My wife was robbed at gunpoint several years ago. It didn't change her attitude about guns (she is scared of them although I have had her shoot a few). She grew up where gun ownership was illegal (Venezuela) so she was never exposed to their use until we married. I taught all of our kids how to use guns safely and 3 out of the 5 own guns and know how to use them. 2 wont ever own them or use them. Everyone has their own way to live. I don't think any of the family would say that they don't approve of gun ownership, it is just their personal lifestyle to not contend with gun ownership.

I'm really surprised at how many would leave a fire arm in a car unattended. I would never do that. Some one is always watching. If I had a car safe I might, but I would worry.

Good points about printing!!
I don't depend on the shirt to cover the gun. When I'm carrying OWB (Glock 19 would be the pistol), I wear a photographer's vest (Cabela carries what they call a Safari vest...very nice, plenty of pockets too! http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Mens-Safari-Vest/722816.uts).

Now, some folks might say wearing a vest screams "I'm wearing a gun!!!!", I'm never noticed anyone staring at me in horror.

Hey it's on sale too! That vest does scream I'm wearing a gun. Maybe that's a good thing though. Every time I put my gun under a shirt I do worry about it being detected. I need to get something small that goes in a pants pocket I think.

My wife got her concealed before I did. She had too many intimidating encounters by aggressive drivers. We once had friends who told one of my boys when he was about 7 and made a pretend gun out of Legos that "We don't allow guns in this house".... I regret having friends like that.
