I just love the TV journalist who does interviews after a tornado or other similar incidents. They seem to seek out and occasionally find the most illiterate, degenerate, toothless Neanderthals they can find and interview them. I have to cringe when I see one of these interviews, because I know ABC, NBC or CBS will for certain give them some air time, thus enhancing our image with the tribes of the North.

You need to learn what a carpetbagger was. Carpetbaggers came south to exploit it economically and politically, they didn't come down to change Southern culture or generally to become permanent residents. And yes, they were mostly Republicans. Perhaps you should save your ire for the Scalawags, southerners who cooperated with Washington's efforts to rebuild southern politics.
