Girls and guns

My fiancee Liz is going to teach me to shoot. She taught her 3 kids, 2 boys 1 girl, to shoot and to strip/gut/dress a deer as well. I believe she started teaching them when each turned 10. She taught them well enough that using a pistol, the boys can hit a nickle if you throw it in the air, the girl can hit a quarter. Liz has 3 rifles and 4 hand guns... I have no idea what they are but I am sure I will be learning soon. I remember her mentioning a .22 pistol, a .357 pistol and a 30-06, I don't know what else she has. I haven't seen any of them as she has hidden around the house. She won't tell me where they are until gun safety is ingrained in me, not something I have to think about. I have a .22 pellet rifle that I am dialing in the sights and learning the basics. She is HAMMERING me on safety issues/procedures, which I thank her for. I tend to pick up bad habits way to easy, so I appreciate her relentlessly drilling safety into me.

Did you set up your own high house/low house? Would love to see pictures! I wish I had started shooting skeet years ago; it is so much fun! I shoot at local range; I do not have room for high/low house and the layout for all 8 shoot stations.

We're heading to our property tomorrow morning for a week, she'll be shooting skeet and my new .17HMR,

Switch to a real man's game like trap! Lol

Well, please don't lump us all in! I have guns and would love to have the option to carry. Sadly, it will never happen here.
And it is very good like that !

If you want a real mans game switch to bunker, aka international trap. Skeet is harder than American trap.

Hitting a nickel throw in the air? I'd have to see that to believe it unless using a judge or governor loaded with bird shot. Even that would be impressive.

Agreed, international is harder. But strongly diagree about trap vs skeet. Skeet is harder at first for the novice trying to hit say 80%. But at real competition trap has much lower kill percentages. In other words, it's RELATIVELY easy to kill 400 straight in skeet compared to trap.

Not at the competitions I have been to. Trap is almost always won with 200/200.

And skeet isn't usually 100x4? Silly argument anyway. I actually enjoy skeet more, nicer competitors. Trap guys don't talk! Of course all IMO. Cheers!

At Trap almost everyone uses a 12 gauge. When you get tired of breaking 400/400 at skeet it's time to drag out the 410. Sporting clays is my favorite.
