Yes, I shoot all the skeet gauges/caliber. I'm actually best with the 28ga. Trap is too far for the smaller stuff. Yes, sporting clay can be a fun day with friends.

See, we can agree on something.

And which color orange is the best!

Oh yes, I understand that all Canadians do not see things the same. I just meant it would be difficult for a Canadian to even own a handgun let alone concealed carry. Legally anyways. I am also aware that your western provinces, political views are somewhat different than many of the eastern ones.

It actually isn't that difficult to own a handgun. We have a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) and a Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (RPAL). The RPAL allows you to own handguns and other "restricted" firearms. The PAL is required for shotguns, hunting rifles etc. But we have nothing like a carry law. That is only allowed for the criminals who didn't bother to get an RPAL either.

Can you outline the "hoops" you all need to jump through to get an RPAL license? And do gun dealers in Canada normally carry handguns for you to choose from, or do they have to be special ordered? What are the monetary implications of the license if any? Are there any inspections that the license opens you up to?

And down the worm hole we go!

I went ahead a replied to the article.

Here is what I wrote

To the author, you have taken your first steps to go from sheep to sheep dog. You know that wolves exist and have decided you don't want to be a victim. I applaud your first step, which is your mindset. There is a long road ahead of you, to get the proper training and practice. But it all begins in the change of your mindset. You mention a co-worker in near tears over your decision. You now know what your co-workers mindset is, and it is not the same as yours. What you will feel on your shoulders when you get your firearm and carry it is the tremendous weight of your decision. It is no small thing. Good luck on your journey.

I'll disagree on one small point.

The sheepdog's job and duty is to protect the flock. That's the police.

The armed citizen protects himself, family, etc. He becomes a fanged sheep that can fight a wolf and win.
