Silverado 2500HD Tires

I'm guessing you folks know your tires. I have worn out my BFG 285/75/16 ATs and am looking at Cooper ST Max 255/85/16, because they are 1" narrower and a tad taller. I drive about 60/40 paved and dirt roads and pull a 6K trailer routinely. Opinions? Thanks

I have a 3500 chevy. I put on Bridgestone dueler revos on mine. I haul a 8k covered trailer most of the time and about 20k miles a year on them. I love them no problems great traction and are wearing great.

look at the spec sheet on the tires for the rotations if the new ones are way different your speedo will have to be reset for the diffrent size.

Funny, I was just talking with my BIL about kids around here spend all of their (or parents) money on mudder tires and not being able to afford to replace them when they quickly wear out. End result is they are driving on slicks with really big side lugs.

Revo's are good tires I had them on my Jeep many years ago, they do not come in the size I am looking at. I want to keep stock OEM 6" wide rims but get a taller tire, 285's will fit but they tend to wear out on the edges due to the balloon effect.

Load range E Michelins.....good for 100k miles, easy.

I have the Bridgestones on my 2500 HD as well.......currently have 60K on them......probably will get another 15K.......good tires.....lots of logging roads.

I only get 30-35K on Michelins with my trucks. Love the tires but the weight of the load and trailer kills them.

On the other hand I cannot go into winter with less than half worn out tires or I risk sliding off the road and dying of exposure after the gas cooks off idling to stay warm.

That begs the question Eric, wouldn't you be well served with some snow tires? You will get more miles out of your summer tires because you can use them past 50% and you'll have better winter traction to boot. All-seasons don't even hold a candle to real snow tires. In the long run it will save you money and keep you on the road better to swap tires in the winter.
