We rarely get midges. Get closer to the lake and the walls will be crawling with them. The # that john gave me did not work.

Dunno why you had the problem, but I am sorry that you did. K&N 25-1480 is a valid stock number.

Murph!?!?!

I realize the bugs are not flying about up there in the snow, but its the ones from last summer/fall. See now that you have new filters. Another source for air filter material that can be cut to size are the open cell foam Shop Vac pre-filters.

But, hey; do take care with those darned snow snakes! Might need a flask of brandy handy just in case of a bite. ;-)

I ordered the filter should be here on Friday. Now how do I cut it and how wide. Some how I got the #s backwards must be sicker than I thought. See cancer Doc tomorrow.

There is no need to cut the K&N 25-1480. You can simply pull it onto the filler neck in one piece. However, if you want, you could cut the K&N 25-1480 into two or three separate loops, each approximately 1.5 to 2 inches, so that you can swap them out. You would be cutting horizontally so as to preserve the loop nature of the prefilter. E.g., like so...

Good luck tomorrow!

So you used the whole filter?

Yes, at least for now. I may end up cutting it into two or three pieces. I have not decided whether I will do that. It does take a fair amount of force to stretch the material so that it will fit onto the filler neck of the fuel tank. I was concerned that if I cut the material, it might not have as much strength, and might rip when I tried to apply it to the filler neck. That is why I did not cut it initially. You will want the prefilter to be snug up against the underside of the filler cap.

I can't believe you smashed that whole filter in that gap.
