I used to use Amsoil but it is so dang hard to find someone to buy from,
I used to buy it from a friend who bought it from his BIL, but his sister divorced the guy so his ex BIL quit selling to him.
I have left messages on a couple peoples phone who supposedly sell it, never got a call back.
I gave up.....
Now I use Mobil 1 and bought 2 gallons of Rotella T6 for the tractor yesterday.

It's true Amsoil is rough on any marriage :)

Been a long time since I used Mobile, but mobil is what I started with.. One day I decided to call mobil ,and ask what their TBN # was.. They told me they didn't give out that type of info, and That they were always changing their formulation all the time.I would assume to stay competitive in the retail market in Wal Mart ,and auto parts stores.
That's when I changed over to Amsoil.. I found a guy (dealer) that paid $10.00 for me to have a 6 mo. preferred customer membership, and be able to buy at wholesale pricing..I have continued to pay $20.00 per yr to have this membership.

I now sell Amsoil to a good many of my friends, that have Boats 2 stroke ,and 4 stroke ..2 cycle weed trimmers, back pack blowers, chainsaws, etc, With Amsoil,, You can mix as lean as 100 to 1 ratio for 2 cycle equipment..It's easier for me to mix @ 80 to 1...

I have no problem with an Amsoil dealer making $$ off me buying Amsoil.. Auto parts stores, etc make $$ off you buying oil from them.. If I sell ,and install an A/C system does that make you hate brand XXX A/C system because I made $$ off selling ,and installing the system ???

OH, Did I mention I drove a Cummins diesel 1 mil. miles without repairs ?

I am somewhat unsure of the points you are trying to make here........

Point is,, It's not hard at all to buy Amsoil. If that's the oil you want to use.. Some dealer will sponsor you for 6 months for $10.00 and you can buy all you want for wholesale pricing off the net until that 6 mo is up.. You can then decide to pay for a full yr membership, and continue to buy... Usually less or the same as mobil 1

Some people say they don't like Amsoil because of some marketing they use, as if no middle man should make $$ from selling Amsoil.. Kind of crazy but I have heard this .. There is a middle man making a profit ,no matter what product you buy...

All VW tdis since 2004 require a specific grade of synthetic, not typically sold over the counter. It says right in the manual that using anything else will void the warranty. They also spec 20,000 km oci's...

RAM ecodiesel is the same way.

My oil cost more than yours

Now you sound like our California legislators. I think they're proud of the fact that they can make things more expensive and more of a hassle than any other state. Unless you happen to be a dead beat of course, then it's gravy train time.

That's why there are deposits in your engine and turbo..Because the conventional oil burns off at those high temps ,therefore leaving deposits throughout the engine and on the turbo bearings..This example;::::: Page not found | Mobil™ Motor Oils may help you ....I don't have my teaching degree handy

You almost got it word for word off bob is the oil guy's site..''Shchaffer was behind the development of the lubes for the Apache Helicopter & the M1 Abrams ... I find no mention of this statement anywhere else

Actually, I got it from a Schaeffer article themselves and also on a video where John Schaeffer Shields comments on it along with his statements when the wife and I got a guided tour last May at the Schaeffer facilities in St. Louis. I never saw it on BITOG. But your comments fly in the face of the fact that the original turbo on my Cummins N-14 in a 1996 FL FLD120 was still in place and operational on that motor after 1.4 million miles, and the truck went right to work for the next owner hauling grain. So if the conventional Kendall oil it got its entire time with me was leaving deposits in there as you say, it must have been pretty low, and no appreciable evidence that it would have benefited from a full synthetic. And the original BW 171702 turbo on my present Detroit 12.7 S60 is going quite strong at 518,000 miles now, and as an added kicker to the argument, both of the N-14 and this one use turbo blankets I put on them. No appreciable evidence of oil coking. And neither turbo is water cooled like many VG turbos are. Oil feed only.

Turbo Blanket?
