It is the same fuel here. But it seems possible that this is not the case everywhere. Here Furnace fuel comes out of the same tank on the delivery truck as dyed diesel, but is just taxed differently.

I'm glad to hear that there are areas where the RIDE programs have been abolished. I don't get it. Millions of people are stopped without cause, yet when someone drinks, drives and hurts or kills someone, they arn't dealt with harshly (here) at all. Makes me wonder if the RIDE programs are just about extra Christmas Money (Overtime) for the cops.

When my daughter got married (in Czech republic) her wedding reception was in a restaurant in small village. They would serve only one beer per person until all our cars were out of the village. The owner of the place organized transportation (local teens) to follow you home or whatever and brought back. When the cars were gone the real party started. When you wanted to leave they got you a driver who would take you home or hotel. Reason being that over there the place that got you drunk knowing that you would drive home is also fined or can lose its licence. The fines and/or punishment for DUI were pretty harsh there. It was 18 years ago so I don't know what the situation is today as the country is part of EU now.

In your neighboring state of Missouri, if the keys are anywhere in the car, you are busted.

This is what happened to him... he was in the BACK SEAT sleeping it off...

Keys were in his pocket...

Crazy because it is like saying if you have a gun you Could be arrested for shooting it or if a man you could be arrested because you Could for rape.

Very crazy. Makes the driver want/try to drive home so he don't get caught sleeping in his car.

It reminds me a story about a guy caught having a plum brandy still in his garage. He told the judge that he didn't make any brandy ever but the judge told him it doesn't mater because he has the device. When the judge read the verdict the guy asked to be sentenced also for a rape. The judge asked if raped anyone. Guy answered no but I have the device.

It's like a guy I know that had too much drink one night and went to his car to sleep it off in the back seat... police knock on the window and told him no overnight in the car... he said he was not able to drive... they took him in for a DUI.

He was not driving... he was not on a public road and no one called in a report... reason was he was in a car alone with the keys on his person...

I think it was pleaded down... kind of scary when you think about it.. at least to me.

Picked up for driving under the influence and not driving.

This kind of police stupidity enrages me. My father was a police officer for 32 years. He would have either called the guys family to come get him, given the guy a ride home or called him a cab but he would NOT have arrested him. If the car needed to be moved he would have either had a family or friend move it or have it towed to his home, not an impound lot. My father believed that you learned a lot more from common sense then from stupid laws.

End of rant.

My Uncle was a "Protect and Serve" peace officer and he died in the line of duty.

Today it is more "Law Enforcement"

That said... some people sure do go out of their way trying push police officer's buttons.

I actually know inner city teens that will run or dart away just to start an incident... Oakland has made a lot of payouts to settle officer involved incidents and some have been provoked as in having someone spit in your face... who knows what comes with that spit.

The first time my son got stopped for speeding the officer asked him who was paying the ticket (him or dad). Then gave him a warning. My son came home a told me about it. So the next day when the officer stopped by I could say yep you caught him speeding. He found that closing the loop back to the parents sometimes helped straighten out kids more than fines and courts.

I probably don't either... many do leave when the retirement means they are actually working for pennies on the dollar compared to not working.

Can honestly say never heard of anyone being dipped here... I do buy red for the Hospital and have used red in my tractors... I was actually given some because a friend had a drum and had sold his tractor and wasn't going to risk putting it in his truck.

The only place I heard of dipping taking place was from a rancher in Nevada... he said he never drives any of the ranch trucks to the auctions because a friends that were caught... which means I guess he uses red on the ranch.

I bet there is a dye that could turn red to another color... or just have a 5 gallon of red Marvel Mystery Oil in the bed?

Several of my high school friends had LEO fathers... one was always getting pulled over and several times I was in the car... he never got a ticket.

He said his Dad was a Deputy and then the tone would change... and was let off with a warning and a call to his Dad...
