good deal..I'm not going to send in my PT 145, I don't think I'll get a 45 as a replacement ,and I have not had 1 problem with my PT145

I thought the same and had similar trouble free experience, but decided to have the courtesy check as we have four kids and I like to carry. (Can never be too safe). Although you'll likely continue to be fine, I will note that they replaced my four year old, well used PT-140 Millennium with a brand new G2 40. Basically same frame and setup with some improvements in the overall system and a single bottom rail. may be worth a call to see if they will replace, or decide to send it back. Just wanted to share another positive experience with Taurus. Good luck!

Well, I have tons of 45 ammo and no 40 ammo.. If they would replace it with another 45 ,I would probably send it in.. I bought the 45 brand new,and have never had an issue..I don't think all of these guns gave problems..I also have a Taurus 9mm G2.. I carry it most of the time

Please confirm this, but I think the options are:

1) a courtesy check and return your firearm
2) they send a like for like replacement with newest model in same caliber and frame size
3) you get a couple/few hundred dollars or more perhaps?

In my case they just sent the new version. Also - they email the shipping label so that was all free as well.

Good luck!

Field stripped my PT140 this evening and found the recoil spring damaged and definitely needs to be replaced. Not sure how the damage could have been done but the spring is so bulged it is rubbing against the inside of the gun and creating slivers of metal floating around inside the gun.

Got online with Taurus customer service chat and explained the problem. Asked if I should order the spring direct from them or through a gunsmith. They quickly directed me to the class action settlement website. Now I don't know what to do and my opinion of the gun and the company has taken a direct hit. I can't even tell if the problem I have with the gun is related to the reason for the lawsuit. Does anyone know why there is a lawsuit against Taurus? Purchased my gun in 2006 and have never had a problem till now and then facing a delay of at least until July 2016 according to the site. I am willing to simply buy a new spring but Taurus seemingly isn't interested.

Ugh!

They will probably not only send you a new spring, but it will be wrapped in a Brand new Millenium G2 Frame. (Still a PT-140, but updated with all the fixes and a small rail under the barrel. Just call customer service and request your mailing label. I think they are giving a college try to replace or refund all outstanding class firearms. They will email the label to you and you can drop it at Fedex where they'll box and ship for you.

Mine took a couple months for them to process, but they didn't even try to inspect or repair, they just sent me the brand new model G2. Can even still use my Cross Breed holster. I had put a lot of problem free ammo through the old 140, and found this to be a sweet deal. I guess if I had been error prone and frequently dropped the firearm on its heel I might have been worried and really wanted the trade in. I even thought about not calling as well. Now with the new one I have reset my ammo count to zero yet still enjoy the great feel and frame of the PT-140 that I enjoy for EDC.

Good luck!

P.S. The lawsuit had to do with a few cases of the firearms discharging without pulling the trigger when awkwardly dropped on a hard surface and that caused the firing pin to move and discharge a round in a small number of cases. They are cleansing that stock and upgrading or repairing/refunding peoples firearms. I believe that they are replacing all of the 140s with a new G2, but I might be off on that...

Thank you Snowback,

I read about the lawsuit for as long as my eyes could hold out. Makes more sense now and feel better about it. Thanks for clarifying how to get it returned since it didn't appear so clearly in the reading.

Will be giving them a call now and make the exchange. Thankfully I have an alternate for EDC. Great to hear about being able to reuse your CrossBreed with the G2. I have the supertuck and love it.

Thank you again!
Jeff

Thank you Snowback,

You are very welcome.

No guarantee that a brand new replacement will be sent, but I BELIEVE that is what most all folks have had happen, just like in my experience. If others know differently, please chime in. Maybe the CS rep on the phone can clarify what current status is since mine was right after the settlement work started. Make sure you get your reference number so you can check status from time to time. Be safe!

Ahh man - I hate to hear that. Thanks for the update as it might be helpful for others who could have missed the original announcement last year. I wonder what has changed? Perhaps it was because I called right after the class action result was announced last summer, and before any appeals, etc... that might have changed things somehow. I was able to find this website for you which you may have already seen: Taurus Class Action It looks like a full replacement might not be an obvious current option once July 18th hits, but it could not hurt you to ask for that option. I would have been perfectly fine had they sent mine back after its inspection, and the new replacement was just an unexpected bonus. Either way good luck with this one!

Yep, I have to wait. That's the only option now. Offered to simply buy the spring that I need but they have no spare parts for these guns now. She was as apologetic as she could be without violating the company policy. At least I don't need it for my job. Although I might could tell my wife a backup is a great idea. :D
