Not sure that I could haul eight 5x6 round bales on that 22' tilt trailer. No problem on this one and can pull two or four more on the Big Tex tilt.

In this pic half of the weight is forward of the axles. I can't see how that can be anything other than heavily loaded towards the tongue. Maybe it's less of a concern with a GN setup than bumper pull, but I think it would be interesting to see how it worked out on a set of scales.

What are the functional differences advantages/disadvantages between a full tilt deck vs a partial fixed tilt deck. I.E. load angle, weight distribution, ride etc?

I'm not sure I'd want the axles that far back....almost anything you load is going to be centered quite a bit forward of that, it would seem.

That's about perfect axle placement for most of the equipment I haul.

Note to Fat Tire, Where did you get the remote for your PJ. I think mine has a 5 wire remote and most of the add on remotes I see are 3 wire.

Funny you should ask. I bought an aftermarket kit (check out International Hydraulics) but could not make it work because of the wiring, I would have had to replace connectors and additionally instructions did not at all match my trailer's set up, ended up returning it. So I called a PJ trailer dealer in Montrose, CO and they ordered a kit from PJ, but when that came we discovered it had an older style of connector that didn't match my trailer. So they sent that back and ordered a new one from PJ, which worked fine when it came. Going with the PJ cost more than the first one I bought, but it was plug-and-play.

It has worked well -- if you need any more info let me know, I probably have whatever instructions came with it.

Those bales are kinda light, probably around 1200 pounds. The heaviest that I ever weighed were 1450 pounds.

The trailer weighs 5000 pounds, with 1000 on the ball, 4000 on the axles.

The V518 is the heaviest load that I have hauled on it. Seven years ago, went across the scale at 24,940 total, truck and trailer. 12,640 on the deck, 3,440 on the ball, 14,200 on the axles.

Thanks all.

Couple of notes - already have the big deckover with ramps. Had extensions welded up and as I get older I find I really hate fighting with large pieces of heavy metal. And due to the size of the 3030 and the bh80x I have a very low approach angle. Not an issue in dirt, but man is it a trailer pain.

Buying trailer in Virginia, not MV, thankfully... I'm usually on road, not in dirt, so there's never a hill. And the crown of the road is surprisingly noticeable (bad).

Full tilt - seems easier to use, better for dragging say dead cars up, and no issue as long as full up down hydraulic. Which if I'm going to go this route I'll do, I also see advantages in dirt/stone etc.

I played with a pj full tilt. Quite nice. Also thinking of Cam Superline, Bri-Mar, and Kaufman, as they seem to be more or less available here. Does anyone have any thoughts on pluses and minuses? I like the PJ full knife edge more than the kaufman, but price matters... Also maybe towmaster but I gather thats much more expensive.

A partial tilt you could load something like a box blade on the fixed part and then tilt it back to load your tractor. A full tilt your box blade would be hanging up in the air when it tilted. May not be an issue for a box blade but you may want to load something in front of a machine that can't be tilted like that. A full tilt lets you load longer things while tilted. Say for example you wanted to load two UTV's which might be longer than the partial tilt portion of the trailer. You would be out of luck on the partial tilt but it would be no problem on a full tilt.

yeah, I figure full tilt plus power means I could load something, than strap it, then load something else.
