Backhoe Trencher bucket for JD 448 backhoe

I have a lot of clay to trench through. I am looking for one of those banana shaped buckets that has low sides for trenching. Does anyone know of some one that sells then for the John Deere 48, 448 or 485 backhoe? I have the 448 on a 4520 tractor. I have the 12" bucket but am getting tired of cleaning it out every little bit with shovel. I have attached a photo of one that I am thinking of. Thanks from Kansas.

That is a good idea. I always think i have to have a full bucket. Hadn't tried that yet. Thanks for the suggestion. Lynn

Your welcome Lynn I hate digging clay out of the bucket as well and get mad at myself every time I get over rambunctious when digging in wet clay.

When digging clay, learn to use the teeth to lead the bucket, allow them to peel the dirt so it will roll into the bucket. If you power the dirt into the bucket, especially a narrow one you will have it packed into the bottom. It takes a bit of practice to fine when the bucket is just getting full, but anything is faster than climbing off and spending time trying to get packed clay to turn loose.

google up your location plus "backhoe bucket" or look up "industrial equipment sale" there should be a few places near you i would imagine that has buckets. i know there is half a dozen any were from 20 mins to 2 hours away from me. most of the times company websites do not list the buckets and ya need to play the old "phone tag game" and making sure you ready to take down a number or name, if someone gives you a lead.

backhoe buckets are not something someone be buying every day. i would imagine backhoes / excavators are also something not being bought everyday. so... it is a hunt.

get your pin sizes, and width dimensions of your backhoe and/or current bucket, to be ready to give info. i would imagine some of the larger dealerships might have another place or more were they can look up what inventory they might have.

looking at canton,kansas looks like you have 3 to 4 nice large cities near you. surely you would be able to find something.
