In Ny, the state thinks all land holders are getting some sort of revenue from it and taxes you accordingly... ours was swamp and an old abandoned gravel pit. We took walks and hunted it, they envisioned some sort of logging income. Taxes went sky high, we sold. Buh bye Ny...finally drove us out.

The taxes on my 160 acres in the Ozarks were only $190 a year.

Adjust for race and there's no difference.

There is no correlation between higher taxes and a better education or public service. Only greater waste and corruption!!!!

The Condition of Education - Elementary and Secondary Education - Finance - Education Expenditures by Country - Indicator May (2015)

I sure do agree with that statement. We're taxed to death in California yet the kids are all dumber than a box of rocks. All while the schools and teachers always have their hands stuck out for more. Maybe if they just tried teaching something that actually matters for a change instead of the constant harping on diversity crap. I think CA ranks 43rd out of 51 overall, 37th for quality and 49th as far as safety while we consistently rank in the top ten for high taxes. Clearly money is not the answer for good education. As for service, what service, they are too busy handing out freebies to deadbeats?

BTW they seem to be doing their level best to run business off with all their idiotic taxes and constant interference, destroying the tax base, all while they do everything they can to attract deadbeats. Anything to buy a vote even if it means illegals. They are working up to letting them vote because they are giving them drivers licences now. Maybe the schools would fare better if they weren't stuffed chock full of illegal aliens on our dime.

Good for landowners, not so great for public services or pubic education.

I would rather my child go to school in Russellville Arkansas than any school in any city on the east coast and he would be safer, better educated and more well mannered.

My opinion, fwiw.

I am a product of the New York City public school system. 50 years ago, the system was like a feeding trough. It was all there, Remember the TV show "FAME" ? the school system was large enough for specialized schools. performing arts, music & art, aviation, machine tech, science, etc. One had to reach out and grab an education. If one just sat back waiting to be fed, you got a second or third rate or worse no education. It's the same in in the South. Large systems offer more choices, small town schools are limited in their offerings. But one needs to reach out in any case, for a good education.
