$250's to get me to leave the property. You'd be better off buying the grinder for $6K. I have a CA environmental surcharge of $20k. ;)

Yeah that sounds about right.:laughing::laughing:

After materials, machining, paint, skidding/crating, the prices charged for these aren't so out of line. Getting in and lowering the price is just going to start a race to the bottom. Keep in mind; they're also giving the Feds 30% off the profits. Hard as it may seem to believe, I don't think anyone's getting rich selling 3pt stump grinders.

I think it's the comparison to the prices of other stuff that has me stumped. Pardon the pun.
Speaking of the Feds they have these things priced as if they were all made in the People's Republic of California.

Where as I have zero labor, zero facilities expenses, zero consumables, and zero tax, and my cost was still $2k. Mind you, I have all of those for my manufacturing business, but I built this myself so I can rent it to my stump grinding business. ;)

Gear box, teeth, pockets, steel, cylinders, fittings, valves, hoses, fasteners = $2k

You don't stay in business selling that at cost. You seem to have an unrealistic expectation of what these pieces cost; or you expect the people making them to work for P.R.C. wages. When you have a 120# wheel turning 700rpm in front of you, do you really want a $11/hr weldor doing the beads?

On one of your pictures, a set of teeth are straight instead of angled.

This is my concept for a boom. A double acting cylinder inside the tubes will extend and retract it 12". There a four single acting cylinders to lock the inner tube when cutting. Opinions?

I wouldn't worry about the locking cylinders, and I'd go longer if you're going to bother telescoping. Use 5/16" wall mechanical tubing and size it so you can bush it with UHMW.
