Best: 1988 Toyota Pickup with the 4cyl motor. Could climb any mountain and go anywhere. (Still Own)
1995 Toyota Landcruisr with the front and rear lockers. Again, would go anywhere I pointed it. (Still Own)
2006 Ford F250 with the 6.0. With the updates to the engine...has been a super reliable tow donkey. (Still Own)

Worst: 1985 Ford Bronco II. First car, and it caught on fire.

Still in test mode: 2014 Ford F150 with the ecoboost. So far it's been great. Only 16K miles so need more time to give a recommendation
2012 Ford F150 Raptor. Only 10K miles so need more time to give a recommendation.

Best a 95.5 Toyota Tacoma, that I bought used. Still own and drive it. I have it highly modified but even so they are or were good and reliable vehicles. Can't say so much for the later years, from what I see I think they are getting worse.

Worst a 78 Pontiac Grand Prix that I got brand spankin new. It was a real lemon and a pure piece of junk and likely the very last american make I'll ever own. Trick me once, shame on you, trick me twice, shame on me.

Best.. A 78' Ford Bronco, never had to be towed...

Worst.. 85' Ford Escort, problem child and had zero curb appeal

Most Fun.. 84' Nissan Pickup, straight axles front and rear with Chevy 327 and turbo 350. "Unsightly, aggressive sound that surprised folks a the local mud hole as well as
pulling into a gas station". I miss that truck!

Best, even though at 20,000 miles it developed piston slap, and Ford only paid for parts... 1977 F-250 4X4, the piston slap induced/allowed me to put some performance parts on that 351C and I will tell you, it was more fun after that than a ton of monkeys, wish I had never sold it, (that's another reason why the wife is an ex)
In 1979, it was the fastest 4 wheeler in these parts! Open the header dumps and she sounded really sweet!
:thumbsup:
Worst, hands down, 2003 Chevy C-1500, Transfer case electronics had something wrong, and after almost 3 grand of Dealer putting new parts on it I gave up and traded it

Best was the 1996 Toyota Tacoma with 4 cylinder engine.

Worst was a 1994 Ford Ranger (supposedly Motor Trend's truck of the year that year) with 4 cylinder engine.

Next best was a Dodge Rampage. It and the Tacoma are almost a tie though.

Serviceable appliance is the current 2005 Tacoma with 4 cylinder engine.

Worst were a 77 Blazer with 350, engine spun a bearing (replaced) then tranny went out (replaced) and the body was turning to dust. Just a money pit at only 100k. Also worst was a 84ish Nissan Sentra, it always had carb issues and felt like a tin can.

I've had lots of good vehicles, best were the Honda's but still waiting for a best truck. I've owned a few Cherokees but none have been good enough for best. Someone mentioned an 89 Accord 5 speed, what a fun car. I cleaned one up for my SIL....FI, moonroof, quick quiet and nimble.

I had an 84 Laser that was loads of fun, digital dash and power windows. Not so common back then and it was the first car I had with FI, I wouldn't buy another carb vehicle after that. My only regret is that it didn't have the turbo but I did drive one that had it....fun stuff. Sorry, got off the truck track. ;-)

Worst= 2007.5 Ram diesel. Emission related problems. Chrysler made it right in the end.

Good= 1996 F250 7.3. Only a few minor issues.

Better= 2013 Subaru Outback.

Best= 2006 Tacoma. 200K miles, not a single problem.

Last American make?? I wouldn't go quite that far. A '78 would be about 38 years ago. My '66 Ford Fairlane 500 was a genuine lemon. I kept it for 2 years and 24k miles before trading it off for a Plymouth and for 25 years, you couldn't have given me a Ford. But then, after 26 years, I bought a Ford powered motorhome and towed a Ford Escort behind it, and I've owned nothing but Fords since then.:laughing:

Best Reliability - 1999 Honda CRV, it was my wife's second vehicle. She drove it until the first kid at which point we gave it to another family member. Got it back when I totaled my Dodge Dakota and drove until around the 240,000 mile mark. We gave it to her brother and he is still driving it with well over 300,000 miles on the odometer. Aside from replacing the clutch at 250K and a couple of other "consumable" parts it's been trouble free. I fully expect that it will be given to another family member at some point. Surprisingly, because it's so light and stripped down its actually kinda fun to drive!

Worst - 2001 Dodge Dakota, my first truck. Drove it until I used the back of a Subaru Outback to perform an emergency stop. However, that was at only 60,000 miles and by that point the freeze plugs were literal falling out it and I was having to add oil and coolant weekly.

Most Fun - 2014 GMC 1500. Jury's still partially out as I only have 45K on it but so far I love it. It handles well, has plenty of capacity and power for my needs and is the quietest and most comfortable riding vehicle I have owned. Heck even my uncle, who pretty much exclusively owns Bimmers and Volvo's has commented on how quiet it is for a truck.

Most Scary - 2012 Mini Coup Clubman S, mom's car bought used. Thing is an absolute blast to drive with the turbo. Mom needed a car that was lower to the ground and wanted a last hoorah car so we got her a bastard baby bimmer. She doesn't drive it a whole lot so once or twice a week I take it out and open it up! We also take it out for date night and long commutes. We did duck the dreaded timing chain issue as it had already been replaced when we purchased it. However, there are days I feel like the thing is a ticking time bomb. With luck and mom's low use it will last until she does not have a need for it any more.

Beast Mode - 2000 Land Rover Disco II, wife's car bought used. Some how I got the truck and my wife has the fully outfitted trail crawler. Front/rear Safari Guard Bumpers, full under belly protection, suspension upgrades, ARB Lockers, differential armor, roof rack with tent. Wife's dream vehicle believe it or not. It's actually surprised me because aside from a reoccurring leaking front axle seal it's been very good to us and our pocket book so far. Our mechanic keeps telling me that between the baby BMW and the Disco that I like to live dangerously :D
