I saw one with bars too. Was gonna ask which works better? Bars would be alot easier to fabricate

Another thought for example: My flail mower gear box is 1:4 and the pulleys are on the drive and the cutter shaft are the same size so a little over 2000 rpm.

LD1,
What I have found works well in cases like you describe is to run my land plane grader scraper with 1/2" spacers on the bottom of the skids behind one tractor and use my backhoe to add pulverized top soil from behind. This add very little if any topsoil to the smooth areas but does add a layer to the holes and dips. In most cases the grass can grow back through the added layer. My blades on the lpgs are set flush so the added spacers allow the blades to ride just high enough to leave the existing grass in place.

You could build a box to do this if you don't have a lpgs.

Have been thinking about building a lpgs as well.

Got room any things on my wish list and to do list. But I'd imagine it would have to take some really fine pulverized dirt for the lpgs to be effective.

I would not use big chunks and large dirt clods for this but it doesn't have to be like flour either. Dirt that you can blade down smooth is good enough. If your dirt is chunky then run over the dirt pile with a tiller to loosen it up.

I think I would high-center on either of my dirt piles, which are about 8' tall and 15-20' around.

I've used both and the carbide tipped nubs work better. Why do you think they no longer make the style IT has?

Before I try to build anything, I was thinking of expirementing with some different tine shapes with my tiller. And make some gauge wheels or gauge roller. Wish it was more than 54" though.

Cause I cannot seem to grasp how the harley rake would work better than my tiller? is it because the knubs are so short and close to the drum that instead of chewing up a ton of dirt, or "knifing in" and pulling up clumps, that the knobs dont really "knife" in but rather beat the dirt to a pulp?

Wouldnt take much to make a simple set of T shaped tines out of some 1/4" flat bar just to test the theory?? Then run some gauge wheels and test it out on some uneven areas.

Is a logs a fat fingered lpgs?

I'm used to dragging a 4x4x10 over fine soil to "even" it out and set seed, so I could see dragging a log, which would be easier to build than an lpgs.
