A new 250k coach here would be 25k sales tax and maybe $2500 reg the first year.

It would seem the severe winters and general population wouldn't support the high end luxury vehicles/coaches?

Amazing how much things very from coast to coast... some of my friends pay a one time tag fee on older vehicles and coaches and are good for as long as they hold title...

Other States come down hard on vehicle and operator licenses... paying $574 to continue the registration for my 85 Truck including a $250 converter because it missed by one point shows just how much pressure there is to get old vehicles off the road.

Didnt think '85s required a converter.. My '86 didnt come with one.

Incorrect.. If its personal, then you do not. If its farm related, you still do not:

Farm Equipment Operators - This exemption covers legitimate farm-to-market operations by farmers, not commercial grain haulers. CDLs are not required to operate vehicles:
Controlled and operated by a farmer, a member of the farmerʼs family or an employee;
Used to transport farm products, equipment or supplies to or from a farm (including nurseries and aquacultures);

The farm exemption is often misunderstood. You can't claim that you are a farmer, you actually have to file a schedule F with the IRS then put "farm" plates on your truck after providing proof to the dot here in pa.

Also, cdl goes by weight. They could care less if you are using your antique truck to haul your antique tractor down to the fairgrounds. Go over the weight limits and you are going to get nailed for not being licensed properly. Thats why i have my class a. Im over the 26k combo weight with a trailer exceeding 10k. Rv is a whole different animal but dam near get away with anything including using class 8 tractors to tote their camper.

The pa dot has recently been cracking down on personal use trucks hauling to the dirt track races. If you can win a ribbon or a trophy it's "for profit" and thus commercial. Piss and moan all you want but that's the way the state of Pa sees it. I can't speak to other states though.
