After looking at the pics , I would never accept that tractor as FIXED . You must have a good dealer .
He didn't have to, his dealer and or Mahindra gave him a brand new tractor. After looking at the pics , I would never accept that tractor as FIXED . You must have a good dealer .
Why are you mowing at such low RPMs? 540 is at 2350ish
Navasot, I mow at 1600 - 1800 rpm's because that does the job just fine with the finish mower I'm using. Yard looks great.
I suppose I mow pretty slow compared to some folks. I've always done so because for 30 yrs I used a 9n and had only three
forward gears, and one was highway gear. 2nd gear was only one suitable for mowing, but it is slow. But that's what I had. So a
month ago I get the 2538 and have infinite speeds, but after 30 years you know what I'm doing - pretty much the same speed. I may get
out of that in time, but mowing at that speed is comfortable at 1600-1800 rpm's in the medium range on the 2538.
talked to dealer 2 weeks ago. waiting for him to come and test drive tractor.he talked to mahindra but i have no new info. it has jumped out of gear
many times, happens every time i drive same place, knowing it jumps out of gear i make sure it is shifted into gear, detent feels ok in mid range. it's not a good feeling shifter. good idea to note rpms
i will check that next time. i'll report back when i get any new info.
Are you using the pedal to adjust speed or just putting it to the floor?
Well, I hate to say it...but my new tractor is coming out of M gear also. Not as bad at the first one, but is still doing it after only 10 hrs on it. It has happened 4 times so far. The shifter just doesn't feel right. It's as if there are either 5 detents in the M area, or none at all. If I line the shifter up exactly with the M on the decal, the shifter moves toward H until is goes to N. If I put it too far forward of M, it goes toward L til it hits N. I think I've found a happy place for it, but there is no positive feeling of it going into a detent. But even that is not fool proof. I still have to keep an eye on it because it will move either forward or backward. Thankfully I don't use M gear very much.
So my plan for the future of this tractor:
1) Live with it for a while...watch if getting better or worse.
2) Not even mention it to the dealer yet. (He would kill either me or himself...maybe both)
3) Wait for Mahindra to figure out exactly what the problem is and a for-sure solution.
4) Keep up to date with other owners (here) who are having the same problem.
It is very important for us to stay in contact until a solution is found. I really like my new 2538 and I don't want to see it torn completely down chasing a ghost. This problem needs to be addressed by engineers, not mechanics. I have a 5 year warranty so I'll give them time to figure it out.
