Thanks George, I have been looking into them, never used one before and I was told there are some that have to be disconnected before you back up I want to make sure I don't get into that.

I think that only applies if your trailer has surge brakes and the hitch has sway control. You have electric brakes so you should be able to back up without disconnecting anything on the WD hitch. I have a Reese WD hitch and electric brakes on 2 trailers and have no problems backing up.

I think I am bought out, would not have gotten rid of the Chevy but I did not like the digital assist steering. so far I like the Ram just fine.

repaired the brake wires today it did not help the brakes but I feel better about it.

How are the brakes grounded? From seeing that saloon job in post #20, I'd bet they are grounded to the frame. That is a poor way to do it.

Both, ground wire runs to the plug and is grounded to different points along the way. but this trailer has a lot going on it has a battery for the winch but it is separate from the rest of the trailer, the battery for the hydraulics is charged by the truck and grounded to the trailer and the brakes are grounded to the trailer and the ground wire in the plug. the brakes do work just not as good as my 7 Ton dump trailer.

yep got the Cummins and so far I like it.
