Quite the pucker factor Murph,I fully agree with your statement.Funny stuff though my good friend/hunting partner of 30 plus years was sleeping his first response was WTF did we hit.Of course us old bastards have to take a truck nap and do not get to see the REAL excitement.LOL..

Looks like the hit was low on the truck bumper and not in the grill. Either way, once a deer is hit by a vehicle, the meat is not worth much IMO. (broken bones throughout the meat) Glad you and your partner were not hurt. Jon

Glad you are ok, and amazed at how well the truck took the hit.

Sadly I've hit quite a few with big rigs, just deer not elk or moose or a horse. I've never really had any damage. It's my theory that they are trying so hard to get away that they slip and fall down. Hoofs don't have a lot of traction on pavement. Then again, maybe I've just been lucky.

That will cost you. Insurance don't pay out on deer

Not sure what company you use but I know ours does. It is a no fault claim, you have your deductible but at least it does not count against you.

That is really lucky it did not cause more damage. Just make sure they check the underside carefully as you don't want a mashed brake line or something .......

My Daughter in law hit one a few weeks back. It rolled all the way down the drivers side of her little SUV. It hit hard enough that both right side air bags deployed. $12k dollars worth.

Insurance covers it here also.

Gonna have to replace the bumper any way, you might want to try one of these. Serious animal protection. I have experience with the Herd version. You can smack a buck at highway speed and send it to the next county. Far superior products than cheesy stuff at normal 4x4 accessory outlets.

Herd, the strongest one....

And Truck Defender, which is similar to the Herd bumper....

I don't think they pay here in Wis. A brush guard would be good for ya truck

It sucks that it happened to your brand new truck, but all in all, I expected to see 10x the damage. You lucked out if there is such a thing when it comes to damage to your new pride & joy!
