I asked on the attachments area, will these work on a snowblower? I need to clear two gravel drives this year that had gravel added to them late this summer and it is not packed down. Will they work on the blower? Thanks, Jon

YES and NO

Yes if you never back up while dragging the blower and also if the clamping device clears the auger.

Better to enlarge your existing skids (shoes)

I simply welded a 12" length of 2" wide flat steel to the existing blower skids.
Naturally I bent about 2" of the 2 ends up about 45 deg to form 'ski tips'.
Works great on my 60" blower and no gravel in grass but better yet far less sheered pins.
Also welded up a set for a neighbor that had a front mount blower.

I have on occasion removed those skids once I have a solid base established.
I made my skids so as to leave about 1 inch of snow that then compacts to form that desired hard base.

Temperatures and different snow density depict how and when a good base will develop, driving back and forth helps compact a good base.

After looking at their pictures more and with the info here, I have to look at the potential interference with my auger on the Kubota BX2230 blower. Right now, the blower sits lower on one side and wears the wear bar unevenly. Talking to the dealer, I learned a trick of installing the front mount lifting device. Basically try to attach it so the blower rides level by tightening the bolts alternating one then the other. Don't tighten one completely and then the other. Thanks for the info. Jon

Anybody know if these fit buckets with a bolt-on edge? The website suggests they will not fit. Want to try them on a 8' skidsteer bucket.

Print out the available template linked form the FAQ page:

Q: I have a large bucket, will they fit?

A: On the buckets we have tested, the product fits without a problem. The opening on the back of the Edge Tamer is 1″, which should be plenty of space. You may note in the pictures how much space is available. One exception is buckets with removable, bolted-on edge. The combined thickness of those edges can be more than 1″, and therefore incompatible with the Edge Tamer. If you are especially concerned about a fit, here is a template you can print out to compare, along with instructions.

I'm guessing you don't have a SSQA on your loader?

DO not. That was one of the tradeoffs made when getting the NH Boomer 24. Quick Detach bucket is not an option. However lift capacity is more than the other colors widely available in my area.

You don't want SSQA anyway. Bad for my wallet! keep buying more attachments!

LOL. I suspect that I would have the same problem. I'd have forks and lord only knows what else.

So my edge tamers and edge extenders arrived yesterday. Good gravy the tamers are beefy. I have not put them on yet as we had too much going on last night. I will get to that today just to make sure everything is good before the snow arrives this month.

For some odd reason the crew that built our pole barn left about 100 2x4's stacked in my yard. So I have to move all of those. The edge extenders will be perfect for that job since I do not have forks.

R2's customer service was excellent too. The 4 inch edge tamers were out of stock when I ordered. They emailed me and said it would be 10+ days until they had any. However they had a few they used as demos at a farm show and did I want those? Only difference is they have a bit of wear marks on them from being used. Well of course that is going to happen about 10 seconds after I put them on my tractor anyway. So I said yes to that.

I am anxious to see how much easier they make snow removal this winter. I just use the bucket of the FEL to move snow. Just my driveway. We have horses to care for so removal of bucket to add front mount anything is not really an option.

Mine arrived on Sunday by postal delivery, so customer service is noteworthy. I bought 3 3" for my 60" because of the crown I graded into the 550' gravel d-way, and will add a 4th if needed. Design, heft, and weld quality are impressive, and IMO to make one's own (imitation) wouldn't save much $$ or time.

btw, I've never found a snow tool as versatile and capable as a FEL. I disdain the use of blades over gravel by comparison, and don't enjoy removing sodded berms/'curbs' built up from years of their use.

Ratchet Rake in Summer, Edge Tamers in Winter!
