50 hrs service

At this point I may have not choice but to pay $400 to transfer my warranty to another dealership that is 50 miles further than the one I bought from.

It sounds fishy to me. You should be able to have warranty work done at any Mahindra dealer. They receive reimbursement from corporate.

Maybe I'm stuck between two shady dealers, the next closest dealer is 110 miles away. I just wish Mahindra had a direct Corporate customer service department that would respond, instead of using the dealers as a impenetrable shield.

sorry what are you talking about -pay $400 to transfer warranty to another dealer???? maybe i had too much coffee this am or not enough. i bought my max 25 at a dealer closer out of state. but he was a jerk all the way around - did not know much or care and his staff was yech and terrible on top off that. when it came to servicing mine at just over 50 hrs and fixing a wheel seal leak under warranty i went to an instate dealer 50 mile away. they took care of it and also took care of corroded battery cables which they did not have to cover under warranty - i did not bu the tractor there. They were great people and super mechanic and staff too. ( i did stay up on top of the battery cables but they did go downhill quick and i was surprised and have seen a few other posts about this issues here.).

Wait, Mahindra doesn't offer a national warranty? The warranty is dealer-centric?

If true, don't kiss me on the left side, or the right, but right in the middle.

I just spoke to the Mahindra Corporate office about the $400 charge to transfer the warranty and they said that is wrong, that I could take my tractor to any authorized Mahindra dealer for work. They are also going to contact the dealer that wanted the $400 and find out what that is all about.

The $400 thing sounds like a misunderstanding. There are dealers that will sell an additional extended warranty, maybe they sell such a thing and were quoting you that. But as you have found out, the warranty registration just ties the customer to the tractor as the owner. It will show the selling dealer, but you are not required to use the selling dealer for service. It make sense 99% of the time to go to the selling dealer as you have a relationship with them and they made a little $$ on the initial sale and will tend to go to bat for you on any questionable warranty issue and they will also tend to put you near the head of the line to get the work done quickly. But if they charged you for stuff they didn't do and are not willing to investigate if there tech actually "cheated", then I'd agree to move to another dealer.

my dealer i bought from was a small town hack joke. that is why i went with the more reputable but more distant dealer from then on.

The message here is to look BEFORE you leap. If they are at all shaky you will likely get an aroma of fish right off. If you do, then move on to greener pastures.

To my knowledge, Mahindra's warranty is not dealer-specific. We have performed warranty work for machines that we did not originally sell.
As far as breaking down the bill, $90-110/hr for labor should be expected; Parts are what they are; And pickup and delivery expense is generally calculated based on mileage - usually $3-4 per loaded mile. Depending on what is done, service bills of $500-1000 are not uncommon.
I hope you are able to resolve whatever issues you are having with your dealer :)

I agree with Billrog, DIY does not always result in a huge savings.

I had a dealer do the first service. I forget how much they charged but I think it was under $400 but not by much. And they came to my place which is about 35 miles from the local dealer. That service did, however, also included a fuel filter change and included greasing all zerks on tractor and FEL, and they took away all the used oils. And I was there so got to ask a lot of questions.

Anyway, I recently serviced everything myself and with the cost of the hydraulic oil (for transmission and front axle) and engine oil, and two hydraulic filters, an oil filter, and both air filters, it came to about $360 in supplies alone, not including the radiator flush and antifreeze or grease. For my tractor, those things are not cheap. And of course, I made a bit of a mess with the grease gun, there was some frustration at times, and then I had to take all that used oil to a recycling center.

I was glad I did it myself as that way I become more and more familiar with the tractor and always learn something, and it gets easier each time. But if I did not want to do it, I would think $450 would not have been unfair to charge for all that I did - and remember, they came to me so I avoided taking the tractor all the way to town.
