Yea....issue of my finger typing something different than my brain was thinking.
A yard of gravel is about 3000#
A yard of limestone is 2700#
So you get more volume per ton.
So as an example....let's say you need a 500' driveway, 10' wide, 1' thick. That's 185 yards of material.
That would require 250 yds of limestone....or 280 yards of gravel.
If gravel is $13/ton and limestone $16/ton....that makes limestone 23% more expensive per ton.
But the job as a whole....would be $4000 for limestone or $3640 for gravel. Making limestone only 10% more expensive.
In other words......that $13 ton of gravel is equal to $14.30 worth of limestone. Which makes limestone a little more enticing than comparing by weight at $13 and $16
