2016 College Football Season and Playoff

Comparing all 6 teams in contention on their resume makes Washington and Clemson look weak.
Could end up with Osu and Pen State or UM both in leaving out a relatively weak Clemson.

Conference champions are NOT a requirement, and it was specifically set up that way for just this reason.

I'm guessing it was set up that way for a WEAK conference.

The Big 10 or 12 (whatever they're calling themselves now) is arguably the best conference in football right now (never thought I'd be able to say that with the SEC around), and PSU is that conference's champion. This is why I've stated that more than 4 teams need to be able to qualify for the "playoff".

Hey, I'm a PSU alum. At the end of the day, would I be happy if PSU made it to the playoffs? Heck yeah. That said, as mentioned, my life does not revolve around football, and a game that makes ton of money has NO affect on my life. There are more important things in life... that said, I do think more teams should be included in the playoff system if you want ONE true "national" champion.

Did feel VERY old last night. I can remember watching Archie Griffin playing for Woody Hayes. They don't make great college football coaches anymore who stay for the school and what it means to them. They seem to stay for money nowadays.

They've made it clear that they will look at each teams full resume. It won't just be "what have you done lately", who beat whom, and final records. It will be record, difficulty of schedule, stats (turnovers, defense yards and points given and taken, same for offense, etc). When you look at a lot of those areas especially the stats, which some of the broadcasts are now doing, they make a case for Alabama, OSU, PSU, as locks. It will be too bad for a couple teams as usual, and anyone can make a valid argument for at least 5 of the other teams to get in. I will add that the adjustments PSU made at halftime really impressed me and I was surprised Wisconsin couldn't defend the PSU pass attack.

I'm hoping for a Clemson-Ohio State rematch (Clemson leads the series 2-0). Their first meeting in the 1978 Gator Bowl was monumental.

I hope Washington beats bama. Get tired of hearing how good they are and not giving any of the other teams any respect all season long.

I feel bad for PSU.

As an OSU fan....I place the sole blame for the big-ten champ not getting in....on MICH.

If Michigan hadnt lost that game to Iowa....we would have had a 3-way tie. And OSU would have went to, and won the big ten title instead of Penn state.

And who knows, a Michigan team with one fewer loss, (but still no title) might have just made a second b-10 team in the playoff.

Oh well, we can what if all day long. One thing is for certain.....there's some good games ahead.

There was not huge money in the old days. The coaches stayed because they were gods on campus. They were jerks back in the day, just not rich jerks.

I'd respectfully argue that the money is much bigger now then compared to the 70's and 80's.

Perhaps I got my attitude when the guy from New England took over at PSU and the jumped ship to the Texans.

That said, I do think Chip Kelly (sp?) is a prime example of the differences between coaching college and coaching "professionals".

I agree....some good games ahead. I also feel sorry for PSU.......Ohio is a great team but.....PSU beat them.....would be hard to swallow. I think the Huskies have a great chance against Alabama........Petersen will have his team ready to play. GO DAWGS!!!!
