Yep, crawled all over the thing when I got it.. Located all the modules and relays. I try to learn as much as a can when something is new and in working order so when it is NOT in working order I will have more knowledge to know where to start the hypothesis (guess as to what is wrong), the diagnosis step (prove or disprove the hypothesis) and finally the repair step. So yes it pay dividends to take crap apart and put it back together again. And when I quit learning about stuff you guys will know I am on the wrong side of the grass.

:thumbsup: I do the same, if you don't know how something works how can you know if someone is BSing you or trying to take you to the cleaners?

I tell you guys, this Amazon Prime thing is a good deal. We order a "pot load" of stuff from Amazon, and we get it quickly, with the ability to send it back if needed, and video service and free music too.... I know it rubs some of you the wrong way to pay money annually to get all of this, but I think it is worth it, especially to us as a high volume Amazon user.

On my second year of Prime and like it! Going in I wanted to try it but figured I wouldn't re-up the service... but after a year and no complaints, deliveries always on time and 'free shipping' it definitely works for me. Haven't calculated the subscription cost vs. shipping savings though but if you buy lots online, it is worth looking into.

Shipping costs add up and I don't think many people notice. I was on Amazon last night looking at some used books. The book I want is from a private seller and is $15. Shipping is $5 which is not that expensive compared to the shipping prices I have seen at other mail order places. But if you buy a bunch of stuff with shipping prices from $5-20 per order, it adds up fast.

I use Prime too. It does not impact my use of local merchants. It does decrease my use of Walmart, etc.

I always take shipping into account. You always have to pay for it but some retailers it is not an expense, it is a source of income. I almost never shop at Cabelas because their shipping prices are ridiculous. I once ordered 30 worth of socks (3 pair) and the shipping was going to be $12 for an envelope of socks.

Also, in another thread, three hairpin hitch pins from Messicks for $7. The shipping was going to be another $7. Not.

I just got Amazon Prime this year and so far I am disappointed in it. Maybe it is just the things I buy but I never really get any FREE shipping.

I will buy something from Amazon Prime for $15 with free shipping and check it with other sellers on Amazon whose products are not eligible for Amazon Prime and their price for the exact same item is $10 with $5 shipping. It makes me believe the old adage "Nothing in life is free".

Darn, I got my diagnoses wrong, again, I know I was surprised too. You dont have ADD, you have OCD>>Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which leads to TCA, so no your not on the wrong side of the grass, just the other side. When ever I take crap apart, the what ever I took apart dont work and or have extra pieces when it goes back together, maybe I'm the one with ADD, but I still love taking things apart......

It goes back as far as I can remember. Little boys tear things apart to see how they work and little girls start planning their wedding.

I remember those days, back then I could take my little Aurora HO race cars apart, modify and or fix, but as I got older, seamed to of lost that talent. As far as little girls go, think my wife was waiting for prince charming, she's still waiting.............

Sometimes yes the price is a push... sometimes not. I think for larger, heavier items Prime might be more impactful. Depending on where you live, the prime 2day guarantee can be a big deal as well. Unlimited streaming of movies/TV shows, and if you are a Kindle user... free unlimited borrowing of books. It's not for everybody.

Who cares if it's 2 days or 4 really? Between prime or free shipping or even eBay it's all there within a week anyway. We have had prime for ages and it pays for itself many times over as always. Best of all we always save $$$$.
