Dish Network vs Direct TV

Have had both. DISH is my choice without a doubt.

We have had direct TV for 15 years both in the house and the motorhome. We moved it to two houses and three motorhomes they were very easy to deal with that way now the XM radio would not shut it off. Said they would move it to another vehicle, said don't have one, said give me a free radio, said for the car I or motorhome I don't have. Etc. finally had to ask to speak to her supervisor to get it turned off

I signed up for a free week of Hulu. Thought I'd check it out but decided against it and cancelled it on the same day I signed up. Now they are sending me offers to try it for two free weeks.

Has anyone used Hulu?

I do not even know how it works but I've had it with DTV and Dish.
How does it work and why did you drop it?

I, too, would like to drop satellite tv. However, SWMBO is a tv addict. When I looked at internet options, it appeared that finding current programs was difficult, if not impossible. I would prefer to avoid Sling, a Dish subsidiary. What are the options for current programming?.

I have had Dish for about 15 years at our vacation cabin in NM. I have always put it on "Dish Pause" when we are not there, then activate it when we are there. It cost me $5 plus tax per month while it is on pause. For years, it was a battle to get it activated, the CSR's are clueless and apparently it can only be done by phone. I learned I would get a better response if I asked for "technical assistance".
Now, I have been doing battle with them for over four months after I called in August to put it on pause again. Instead, they canceled my service, deactivated my account and charged me a $220 "early termination fee". Since I had been on their auto-pay, I had to battle with Visa and Dish to get the charge reversed. Then, this last week they did it again after I called Jan 3rd to put it on pause again. The CSR insisted I had canceled service and they had deactivated my account and I owed a $220 "early termination fee". We will see how this plays out, I am seriously considering switching to Direct.; and I plan to cancel Dish auto-pay, if I can figure out how....

I dropped it because we are reconsidering cable or tv options and I didn't want to use it right now.

Sadly, that kind of service is becoming the norm for just about anything where you have to do business over the phone. But, especially cable TV.

crackerjack--the way to cancel is to cancel the credit card. We did that for Sirius Radio.

By cancel, I mean just ask for another card with a new number.

I had to do that with Columbia House DVD's. Worst service ever. You can't stop it! The DVD version of Hotel California!

We just signed up for Hulu, got a month free. They have a lot of our favorite shows so we can binge watch with no commercials.
