What's in your tractor toolbox?

I was at the pharmacy picking up a 'scrip for the wife.
I asked if they could "sell" me a tall pill bottle.
The pharmacist gave me one,, it is 6" tall, and about 1 1/2" in diameter.
It will go in the toolbox, to hold fuses,, and anything else small that I want to stay dry!!

35mm film canisters used to be excellent for that sort of thing. Rare as hen's teeth these days.

The great news is I have finally located a spot on the tractor to store tools. The only "tool" I can add to the list is a small Volt Ohm Meter for doing some quick diagnostics. Attached is my "toolbox" for now. There are more durable ones, but this one was collecting dust.

I want a PowerProbe for mine. Then my mates won't be able to raid my workshop for it!
I have a short heavy hammer between the gearsticks standing up.
Lynchpins a couple of light fuses couple of heavy ones. Spare grease nipple/zerk for when I can't grease something I borrow,and a small pick. 4 inch and 12 inch adjustable wrench. And a piece of 1 1/4 tube for a handle to take on and off my Snaplok duals, borrowed from the woolshed where it puts the pins into the woolpress when I shear the lambs. A zip lock bag with baby wipes and a window cloth in another one. For those dusty greasy or cellphone moments. Roll of toilet paper roll of bale tape.

Various combo wrenches, a screwdriver or two, channel-locks, vice grips, 3/8" ratchet with assorted deep and standard sockets, a couple of lynch pins, spare top link pin, old hunting knife, small roll of cheap tape, a few assorted nuts, bolts, and cotter keys, and a couple of rags. There was another unidentified object. I'm not sure what it was, but resembled a piece of petrified vienna sausage. Probably BBQ flavor. ::licking:

Don't have a tool box on my JD. My BH has chains in the box. If I need a tool I get it out of the chest in the garage.

Walk of shame. Yup, I have done that a few times when I left some simple tool or part behind and had to take that long walk back to fetch it.

Short length of high quality chain with grab hooks (found on road from car carrier)
Vice grips
Really junky pair of chinese adjustable wrench (good for absolutely nothing)
Tapered punch maybe 12"
Large ugly abused flat head screwdriver with hose clamp holding handle together. A pleasure to use!
Chinese fiber glass handled hammer/small sledge
Some cosmetic squeeze bottle filled with grease.

I put this tool box on mine so I could get more in the tool box. The one that came on the tractor was to short. This was $19.99.

I always try to have a pair of knipix compact bolt cutters. They will cut just about anything. A pair of channel lock grove lock pliers and my yellow handled Case pocket knife.

Here's the perfect tractor toolbox for moderate to large volumes. It's a Craftsman plastic one and is flat, so stuff isn't piled in a knot, and inexpensive at maybe $10 or so. I got the idea from someone else on TBN. Can't get much for $10.



I don't know the size but can get a lot in it and it fits in most places. I think this is it on the Craftsman site.

In addition to the pins/bushings/pliers mentioned above, in the winter I carry a headlamp, a tire chain install tool and lock de-icer. The de-icer is for opening padlocks on some of our neighbors' gates who are only infrequently plowed.

Rather than repeating what others have listed - and I have much of that, I would add a roll of toilet paper. When I am way back there I don't want to have to come all the way back to the house, or improvise.

One of those is on my "next purchase" list. That sure looks handy.

For some reason, they are hard to find in some stores. When you see one you'll immediately see it as the perfect toolbox.
