Mine has the 3:73. Towing a 16' trailer I get about 12 mpg. Towing my 28' gooseneck, I get about 9 mpg. With no trailer, driving in interstate highways, I get about 15.7 mpg.

The sides are pressure treated pine, painted black. They are 2x8's. The have been on the truck since it was new, which is about 10 months, so they are still holding up just fine.

Weatherman says rain tonight, so my brother called and said "Come get it TODAY!!!"

So I stopped by my trailer dealer and picked up 2 new tires and rims and hooked it up and got it out, then changed the 2 rear tires and headed home. Everything went well. All of the lights work and the brakes work. Clearance above my tool boxes seems to be plenty. The trailer is traveling with the nose up slightly, and I'm OK with that. If I were to get at a full 90* angle while hooked up, it might get to my fuel pump.

I can't tell by the pics but it looks like the camper will clear the boxes on level ground but if you get on some uneven terrain it may be different.

Thanks. I need to replace my deck boards on my trailer and have been reading about charred wood. It basically makes the wood water proof, insect proof, rot proof, but I just don't know if the structural integrity remains in tact. I will keep looking.

Good luck with finding a perfect board to use on trailers. The lumber that lasts longer is usually heavy, reducing the carrying/payload capacity. I have to change mine out every five or six years and need to do this when the weather warms up this year. On my landscape trailer which I use to move the garden tractor and pine needles I am going to put Redwood on this time. The larger trailer for the tractors and backhoe I will be replacing with Yellow wood this time, thought I would give it a shot. 'White oak is more durable but it is heavy and ridiculously priced in my area.
