Stump Grinder Woodland Mills WG24?

Pretty much it is this or nothing as I see nothing near this range and it is not important enough for me to invest more to possibly make less. If this grinder lived through 100 stumps that would probably be plenty. I could then make the decision to advance or retreat. Not looking to start a business just something to do through the summer when my business is slow.

Go for it, screamer. I have visited their store and see this thing first hand. It is strong, and very well put together. And with your PTO horsepower, you will have no problem using it at all.

😃🐸👍

I'm not sure how many members here are using one of the Woodland Mills units, but you might try finding someone that has one and asking if you could pay a visit to see it in action. It would be worth 2-3 hours in the truck before pulling the trigger. I've got one but I'm in Texas and mine is still sitting in the crate waiting on me to find time to unpack it and spend some time playing. Between a busy job and 5 kiddos, I'm hoping it's before Spring!

I remember a guy getting one, using it and maybe even posting a video here on TBN. Try a TBN search, or maybe call them and ask if they know of a customer that made a video about it. I am sure you can find something.

The thing is a beast and is a commercial quality build. It is a simple build that eliminates alot of things that could go wrong. Admittedly the only other grinder I have owned/operated is a vermeer SC252. And it was a much more expensive machine that saw alot of wrench time. The woodland mills grinder will outwork that 252 but only in its own environment. I wouldnt consider it a money maker unless you cherry pick your jobs. The customer may not like ruts in their yard, may not have ample parking, may not have the needed accessability, may not like the relatively shallow depth, may have trees so large that a sweep would work better, may have really humpy lumpy ground and may find someone showing up with this contraption on a tractor a little odd. Im just being a little realalistic. It is the perfect tool for my intended purpose. Admittedly i have used it to earn a few dollars from neighbors that grew tired of mowing around ten year old stumps, but their landscape is about the same as mine.

Thanks for the info guys. I have watched videos of the more expensive sweeping grinders and all I see is more expense to sweep instead of driving back and forth. Now again that is what I see in the video. Side by side could be a huge difference. If you have a drive shaft and gear box rated more than the power I have what else differs from a sweeper? The teeth? The drum? To the folks who have gotten to see one of these I appreciate the knowledge you have been able to share.

Been using a WG24 on my L2800 with HST to grind about 300 stumps ranging from 12" to 30" diameter. Once I got thru my learning curve all went well and reasonably efficiently---find the right pace for the toughness of the wood you are working on and keep advancing at a steady rate. Found cherry and oak took longer than maple, cedar and poplar. I bought a spare set of teeth and swapped out for resharpening about every 100 stumps. Been very happy using this well-made attachment.

Do you mind if I ask what that cost shipped to your location? I see the price as $2099 on their website, but don't know if is US$ or CAD$ or if it includes the shipping cost. THANKS!

For the money that seems like a great implement - I can see for the guy doing as a full time business it may not be perfect but for us homeowner/farm types that is great!
