The fuel gauge thing must be a Japanese thing. Just consider all the fuel gauge comments on Kubota tractors that have been posted here.

And Mitsubishi built Mahindra's. Mine shows empty and will only take about 3.5 gallons.

My Tundra shows nearly empty and takes about 18 gallons. Supposed to be 24 gals I think.

They must have a real batch of jokester engineers in the fuel gauge department. Now that I understand how the rhyme and reason, however, I prefer them.

Looks like Toyota thread is going to be boring if people are reporting issues. There are none.

OK, I have a sort-of complaint. It's the oil filter on the V8 engine. It's not a simple spin-on filter but rather a contraption of a mess that uses a filter element insert and spills oil everywhere. It's complicated and what a mess.

I agree... Not the end of the world, but less convenient than a standard spin-on filter. I have the same setup on the Prius, so i bought the adapter/tool for the filter wrench.

Allegedly they did went that route because it's more Eco-friendly... Less waste. I guess i can see the point, but it's annoying nonetheless

That's what I thought too but was reading an article on the net and they said it was to make sure the right pressure relief number was set. Apparently, people use off brand filters that may or may not be set correctly and was causing problems. Not sure if true or not but sounds right since the pressure relief valve is now a part of the engine and not contained in the filter. And, yeah it's annoying.

I just have to chime in here, to start with I am an unabashed Toyota fan. My wife and I have owned seven vehicles since we were married 36 years ago 5of them Toyotas. I have a 2004 tundra, a bit different than any other I have ever seen since I bought it new, it is a 2WD, 3.4L, SR5 extra cab. I bought the V6 because it was going to be my daily driver and my commute was a bit over 40 miles a day, it gets about 19 mpg.
It currently has about 140k miles on it, other than routine maintenance and a deer in the right front the only thing that has ever failed was a spark plug wire at 130k.
This is why I like Toyotas: they do not break very often, the tundra replaced a 2004 hilux that had 250k on the clock, the seats were shot and the paint was faded, I was not very diligent in routine maintenance but it still ran fine when I traded it in on the tundra.
If you don't like shopping for vehicles and would like it to last way past the warranty and the last payment, Toyota is one of the best bets out there.:D

I've been thinking about cutting a hole in the skid plate that needs to be removed to take the filter down. Then I can reach thru the hole to get the filter down. Lousy design.

I understand that others have done this but where would you cut the hole? I could cut mine if I knew where others that had successfully cut it.
