Trespassers shot

What cracks me up is not ever knowing what the other guy is carrying of how big of a THUG will be coming at me. Your .38 will feel like a mosquito bite unless you hit the head or heart to a 350 pound crack head. You only get "one shot" to get it right in an altercation. Also you .38 is useless against a bear hiking in the woods, sooooo, ya go ahead carry your pea shooter I'll stick with my Glock or .357 hollow points

So..ooo....
The logical conclusion here is that unless you carry a "Glock" (caliber unknown), or a .357, it would be better to carry NOTHING?
I wonder why my rich Uncle Sam issued me a .38 for flying in Vietnam?
My wife cannot handle a Glock or a .357,.....so...she should carry NOTHING?

I bet your wife could handle a .380. Glock makes one of those. Single stack. Very concealable. I prefer my 9mm but the .380 is better than .000

I live way out in the country...Now I only padlock my outer gate during deer/elk hunting season. I have years & years of experience that shows that while most hunters are licensed to carry a firearm they are simply too stupid to read and understand a NO TRESPASSING sign.

There have been several threads on this subject, but very few people just trespassing are out to do harm, most are really think they have a right to be on your property and enjoy what you have, so I do not condone shooting everyone on sight, but I will tell you after being a police officer several years, it is hard to tell good from bad.

I have run into several hunters on my 600 acres in west TN where I know they knew better but when I found them in my tree stands they kept arguing they leased the land for hunting for the past 10 years and even had one point his rifle at me to run me off (My dad owned the land since the 50s). The hunter was about 500 yard inside a 5 strain barbwire fence and climbed over it between two no trespassing signs and climbed into a new stand I just put up a few weeks earlier.

BTW- there has to be more to the story, you might be ok shooting someone on your property if you can show cause but burying them afterward demonstrates malicious intent.

I even had one family who bought some property behind my land, cut my fence so they could ride their ATVs to my pond to fish. Told me the seller told them it was ok... They even had the gall when I confronted them, to ask if I would put a gate where they cut the fence so they could still ride my trails...

Getting where I think it would be better to sell my land and just use everybody elses, apparently that is ok in the world we live in now.

I do have a Bersa .380 (as well as several 9mm)
Nice compact little weapon.
I don't want my wife needing to deal with the relative complexity of a semi-auto.
Bought her a Ruger LCR in .22WMR, but trigger pull is too tough for her (71 years old).
Now am going to try a Charter Arms .32 H&R magnum revolver (with Hornady Personal Defense)
Using the theory, that when pumping gas in the city at night, something is better than nothing.
Most who see a gun pointed at them, are surprised, and will run. They will not look down the barrel to try to determine the caliber.
For those who think a .380, or .32 is too small: Go stand 10' away, and let me take 6 shots at you.
Then: If you still can, tell me if it hurts!

IMO, in this case the issue is that the homeowner buried the trespassers after shooting them rather than calling the cops.

I live way out in the country at the end of my mile long gravel driveway. I always have folks who will drive into my yard and most just turn around and leave. I've never had anything stolen but in the beginning there were some fairly stubborn folks that though they had the right to fish in my private lake. The lake was stocked with trout and they indicated they had fished the lake many times. While I was an absentee owner - we did lease the property to a couple Dr.'s who kept the lake stocked.

It took quite a few "stern" discussions to convince them - now that I was living on the property - their fishing activities were finished.

I never shot anybody - however there were two occasions where I did call the County Sheriff. Interestingly, it took them over an hour to arrive at my house. Had it been a life threatening situation - the altercation would have to have been put on "pause" - awaiting the arrival of the "law".

The County Sheriff advised that I could shoot folks who were threatening to/ or actually doing physical harm, in the act of robbery or breaking & entering.

This entire situation was grievously complicated by a mapping company - that for several years showed my new driveway as a county road!!!
It took the threat of a lawsuit for them to dispatch representatives to my property, verify the "road" as my private driveway and delete it from their maps.

Now I only padlock my outer gate during deer/elk hunting season. I have years & years of experience that shows that while most hunters are licensed to carry a firearm they are simply too stupid to read and understand a NO TRESPASSING sign.

Same here, I live at the end of one mile gravel road, of which I own the last quarter mile.

I've never liked the "Trespass here, get shot here" and "If you can Read This, your in Range" type warning signs, too much of a legal hassle if I ever did have to shoot someone.

So what I put up are "Keep Out - Shooting Range" signs. They seemed to have put a damper on the number of "tourists" that drive onto my property just to see the view.

Of course, that still leaves the problem of the Trespassing Slob Hunters from next door...... :(

Very wise decision!

Made me laugh. My dad got hit in Korea each time he was there during the war way back in the day and hit by shrapnel in the big one www nam. He always said getting hit by a 25 auto would just probably just piss him off but a 22 would kill you.

I shoot trespassers all the time. What ever try's to get my chickens or hogs or runs my cattle. As far as people --- well let's just say the world would be better off with some not in it. If it would be legal it sure wouldn't hurt my feelings if someone shoot them. I'm talking about the ones that don't care about anyone or anything and no matter how many laws are written it doesn't stop them from hurting or caring for any body else. There is three things I live by, respect, consideration, appreciation and two things I can't stand, that's a lier and someone that's lazy.

I'm 100% with you except most Crack heads are wasting away, not 350lbs.

I carry a .38 because it's comfortable in my pocket.

But bigger is better. Cops switched to 40's here because of better knockdown power than 9mm.

The only thing I ever "carry" is my trusty Winchester 30-30 and that's only when I know I'm going to be shooting something. Otherwise - in the winter the only visitors I've ever had are known friends. My driveway is loooong, the snow is deep and most are afraid of getting stuck. I make sure the driveway is plowed only 8 feet wide with high berms on each side. In the summer, most who venture in all the way are just glad to see that there is a place where they can turn around.

I'm generally easy to get along with but will anger quickly at those who feel its their God given right to be on my property and do as they please.

Around here if you want to quickly dispose of anything - don't bury it - leave it out in the open on a grassy mound - the coyotes will take care of it in a day or so.
