14x20 skid shed build

That is super nice! THANKS for posting the pictures of the corner brackets. I'm looking forward to seeing it with the siding on it.

My coffee hasn't kicked in yet, so I might have missed it. Is there a man door somewhere in one of the walls?

One other thing....

You mentioned that the engineer said it could flip with a 60 mph side wind load. Does that take into account if the shed is "loaded"? Also, would it be less susceptible if the shed was a bit wider? What about if you "skirted" around the bottom to keep wind out of underneath the shed?

How would you go about staking down the shed?

Sorry for the dumb questions.

Mark, We'll not stake it since its in the woods and we will always have much junk in it, weighing it down. Woods do much to lessen wind. The 2x8x14ft treated stringers at one foot centers we used in the floor also adds much weight to its base so we're not worried about a roll over. You are correct that a wider building would be less prone to wind but they would also weight more.

We have no man door. To much space is used for adding one but I will add a few more photos. I was thinking no one was interested in this project :).

In the last photo, in its background, you can see some of the implements that will go into it. In the 2nd photo you may note the door is 10ft wide and its header was integrated into the end rafter. It was of course bolted into the Simpson angle plates.

Looking nice. My 12x16 hasn't budged, it's had 60 mph gusts slam it. But it's full of junk.
Back on the farm We have had runner buildings blow over, you just roll them back up.

I should add that most people who put "skid sheds" together are not really building them so they can be moved. They cut corners that will make it go out of square, if it ever is. We are also do doing this unit within our locale building codes, so it has a very heavy snow load capable roof, plus it really can be moved.

I'm sure I'm not the only one following along without anything to add or say. I personally just didn't want to slow down progress by needlessly posting.

I'd say you have an audience. Pictures, process, and progress is all we crave... :)

Remember, this is primarily a tractor site full of mostly guys. Think "the strong silent type"... For every person with a comment, you've got bunches more with nothing to convey other than a nod of approval. Kinda hard to convey that in a forum post.

You guys are very kind. I'll post more photos and details when they become available. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Oh and we're added lift winches to store implements onto the walls. I'll add photos of them as they go in.
