WOW- they are now scalping these things like tickets to a concert...

on Ebay 2 listings with buy it now prices of $199 and $299... and the $299 is an open box used only (once or twice) but does come with ac adapter, still quite the mark up for a used item.

One other seller has 6 left but no sim included and only a 90 day warranty.
6 left and sold 6 in 24 hours.

You think that's bad? They're trying to sell them on Amazon now for $450. I guess it is up to supply and demand to dictate the price someone is willing to pay.

Just wait a bit, they will come back into stock at the normal places and the normal prices. Easy for me to advise though, since I managed to get one and am using it happily! :) Seriously, it is everything I had hoped for and more. To get reliable 25-30+ Mbs speeds in a place where my only options previously were 1-4 (random) DSL or a fixed-point wireless option that required $1200+ worth of giant antenna mast and installation and would only get me 10-15 plus be affected by weather like a satellite is a dream come true. Now I just hope AT&T doesn't take it away from me by capping it.

Just FYI, fixed-point wireless should not be affected by weather like satellite is. The only noticeable affect is when the antennae are covered by ice (or they get hit by lightning). Snow typically doesn't stick enough to have an affect. I've had wireless for years with zero issues (I work from home so NEED the reliability). I have the Mobley for the additional speed and the ability to take it with me. I'm using dual WAN for my previous wireless plus the Mobley.

OK. You must have a better system. The provider available in my area isn't so solid. I talked to several existing customers as I was planning to go with them and each said that storms/rain/snow does cause disruption. Even the sales rep I was working with conceded that it happened occasionally. Probably not frequently, but still... I'm sure it would be a decent alternative and would have invested the money into the antenna and installation anyway if the Mobley and $20 unlimited package hadn't shown up at the right time. I can't tell you how happy I am not to have to try to put in a 50 foot tower.

Oh I hear you! My parents have a less than stellar wireless provider for their ISP, and as soon as AT&T has the Mobley back in stock, I'll be switching them over to it.

Yeah VERY HAPPY with the actual device /data speed- Thanks again Zimy:thumbsup:

paid $99 for mine from Best Buy, but...

I bought another 1 for the $159 on ebay for a family member. Was worried might be the last ones available.

Did a bit more reading on an RV site and one poster quoted ATT as saying they should be back in stock in about 3 weeks?.

Probably should have waited for them to be re-stocked . Hopefully enough money will be saved over their existing service and the mobile ability to justify overpaying a bit
they will also use the secure mobile hot spot quite a bit.

Yep, from reading other forums, they were out of stock everywhere about a month before this thread started.

So what are the settings in the Asus after you tether it with usb?
as posted, this thread starts off with the settings... AT&T ZTE Mobley USB Tethering ASUS Router and probably others!
hook ethernet cable between asus using one of the lan ports , and other into lan on computer/laptop.
use a usb cable from the Mobley to the usb on the asus
use a browser to log into the asus with it's address,,, maybe 192.68.29.1 (which was the asus label)
follow these screenshots for the USB tethering settings:

then i had to pull my ethernet cable, and reboot both the mobley and asus,
it takes quite a few minutes for them to reboot and find each other,
then try logging in with the browser over wifi.... and you should see
everything connected, and the mobley listed as it's 3g dongle

That's not correct. Weather very definitely does affect all radio transmissions, whether point to point on the earth or satellite to earth. There are entire textbooks written about the subject.

There are a lot of variables, including frequency and the weather itself, but the effects vary from very minor to very dramatic.
