Good plan. And I would loose the OEM filter. There is no need to keep it after installing the new and upgraded fuel filter assembly.

I was thinking of keeping it in the tractor but relocate it closer to the new filter kit so that it would be easier to change out.
But the more i think about it, i dont think i really need it at all, as this new kit is superior over that little OEM canned filter.

That is just what I was trying to point out to you. ;)

Yes, i knew you had said that, and i had thought it over before you responded.
So its kind of redundant to keep it in there, so its my fault for really saying anything about it to start with.

PaPow, can you provide the Kubota part# for the kit? My dealer has no idea about it. Some pictures of the kit and your install would also be nice so we can visualize the system.

Ron

Ron,
your right, your dealer has no idea because i bought the complete kit off from ebay for $175 (ebay name: botasandy)
The folks i bought the kit from actually build the kit... The filter assembly itself is genuine kabota item and the dealer can get them.
The filter assembly is actually made for the M5700 kabota tractor #15521-43015 (costs around $50 to $60 just for the filter assembly)

These folks make up all the correct hoses`s & brass fitting`s to do the complete install. Their work is absolutely stunning.
They send VERY detailed instructions on how to install it. It also comes WITH the special built mount to install it on the BX tractors.

I will try to post it in here where i bought the kit.

This kit DOES come with only one filter cartridge, the cartridge itself is only $3.90 when you buy one from the kabota dealer.

For what it's worth here's a link to a discussion of Racor brand water fuel separators used in marine applications. Everything about the filtration holds true for tractor diesels too; and there is mention of too many filters adversely affecting overall engine performance.

I think this link provides useful information about why fuel water separator filter, where the water/sediment/sludge that might be in one's diesel supply in microscopic amounts is worthwhile keeping from the injection pump/injectors.

Racor News

BTW, OP it's Kubota not Kabota....

Yep i`m very aware of flow issues with increased filters installed in-line, but thank you for adding the link though.
BTW, theres plenty enough political correctness going around today...i`m sure everyone knows what where talking about in here...thank you.

I did the same with my ZD 326 and 331, which had the 2 small filters. I opted to use a large 2u spin on canister filter as the first filter though.

Like reading these filter stories. I finally changed my first one on my F3080 after 160 hours and still not sure I needed to do it. First one with over 20 Kubotas owned. Dealer used to give them to me when I'd buy a new Kubota so I have a few in stock along with many, many, many gallons of SUDT which he also gave me which I don't change until hours stated in owners manual says to. Not the guy that changes every 20/40/60/100 yhours so I can sleep beter and never had any issues doing it my way, so far. :)
I guess if one has ever had an issue with bad fuel that gets thru their filter they will have strong feeling about getting the best filter possible wile 98%/99% of us never give it much thought and seldom or ever do anything about them unless our Kubotas start sputtering. :)
If something makes one feel better, sleep better and believes they are extending the life of their machine another 2 or 3 hours then I say go for it and don't worry about the money. Piece of mind is priceless. Problem sometimes gets to be that the person believes it's important enough to try and get other people to also do it actually believing it's that important. :D

20+ Kubotas? Some people don't own them long enough to concern themselves with changing fuel filters, just change the whole tractor.

Others who purchase one or two tractors in their lifetime or aren't as financially well off are more meticulous about the maintenance of their equipment and take extra steps to keep them in top shape and trouble free for as long as possible, whether those extra steps are warranted or not. ;)
