F250 motor swap, 7.3 diesel

I have an engine out of my 73 Chev pickup.. had the engine rebuilt, just never got it put back in. I need to get it done one of these days, just keep having higher priority projects pop up. There are parts and fasteners all around it, hoping I don't have to put it in and out too many times because I forgot something.

My Son recently bought a early 80's 3/4 Ton 4x4 Dodge long bed. The body is in remarkable condition. Original paint. Surface rust only. Powertrain disassembled. Interior disassembled including windows all removed. When he hauled it home the bed was heaping full of parts. He plans to put a late model Cummins setup in it. I said "Danny, how do you know the parts are all there?" He looked at me with the polite patient look on his face that we all use when talking to "old people" and calmly said "I don't". That would freak me out!!!!

Ummmm.... yeah, that's a really right price... if ya like a Dodge! Couldn't give me one! *grin* To each their own.

Wife told me the other day when I talked about trading an old ATV for an old truck, ' no more projects until your truck is done'. Worked last night. As I'm heading out today, after a nap this morning, she says 'before you start on your truck, will you.....' Needless to say, I didn't get to the truck until about 9pm. I got the radiator and intercooler flushed out and in place, that's about it.

Danny drives a Super Duty. But he enjoys a worthy project. He'll work on this truck as time allows and some day will sell a running truck for thousands above cost. Doing something he enjoys and making money at it is a win win.

In other news....


IT RUNS! Fired up last night about 9pm, cranked for about 10 seconds and fired right up... purrs! I was expecting lots of cranking/wait cycles, and rough chugging once it fired... but no, it fired faster than my F350 does normally! Finished with grill, head lights, bumper, etc, and pulled it outside about midnight.

I haven't looked into it, but it looks like Photobucket want $400/year from me to alow me to share my own pictures. No Fμ¿©!Ω? Way!
