F250 motor swap, 7.3 diesel

Been cleaning up the nice set of wheels and 35's to put back on, to get past state MVI. Need to change trans fluid. Block heater cord is still hanging under truck, need to hook back up to my big rig style plug mounted in the bumper. Need to clean out the cab and bed... funny how sitting for 2 years causes so much junk to pIle up...

Kids are having a blast, swimming... might have to join them in the pool for a bit. D@mn it's hot...right after I finish sipping this cold beer, sitting on the shaded patio.

Started swapping tires last night, checking caliper slide pins before putting the tire back on... front brake pads are nearly new, but the right caliper pins are froze in the caliper bracket, my torches are out of oxygen, but I haden't slept in 36 hours so I gave up. My buddy has one, and full torch bottles, I'll visit him later today. But now, I'm heading to the DMV for tags, and... looking at another truck while I'm up that way. Nearly a clone to this one I've been focusing on, only crew cab with Lariat trim... fingers crossed, hope the wife likes it, and the bank will loan on it. Hate to borrow money on something else, but a Lariat 6spd crew cab is like hens teeth to find...

There just weren't very many of them built. Makes finding a good used one difficult. Good luck!!!

Truck I looked at isnt terrible, but... Seats a rough, naturally the driver seat is worst. Cab isnt bad, aside from driver rocker panels, but bed is in sad shape. Runs and drives good for 267k miles, and if the bank will loan, and he takes what I offer...


Was funny talking to current owner, I clearly know more about his truck than he does, and he said so!

Greg, I think when an owner knows very little about his truck at 200K miles it's a testament to the reliabilty of said truck!!!

Go with a flat out back. If the bank loans money on a 260,000 mile truck it is on your signature more than truck value.

I know first hand how tough these trucks are... it's the reason I have several.

I don't like the look of a flat bed on a single rear wheel truck, buthe they look great on a dually, had a flatbed on my dually for a few years. I do have a 7' single wheel Utility bed I could put on if needed. Also trying to work out a deal on a gas motor f250 just for parts, decent interior and newer bed on it. But that's another story...

I got the brakes checked, caliper slide pins greased, good wheels on, trans fluid filled, lights checked, new tags on the bumper... Ready for inspection, hopefully tomorrow.

As to the 6spd truck I looked at, I'll be lucky if the bank will give me a loan, my credit is hurting... but I'm not gonna let that stop me from asking, would help build it back up.

Maiden voyage (I use the term loosely, like a 2nd marriage bride wearing white) ended in disappointment, and a trailer ride home behind the Excursion. LF caliper stuck, hit the brake pedal hard a few time hoping to un-stick it, and burst a rear line at the flex line/frame connection. About 5 miles from home, all back roads. Hate using the Excursion to haul that much.
