I have another question for someone if you don't mind. Since I do not possess an owners manual for this tractor I was curious as to the correct functionality of the PTO lever. I have never owned a tractor that has a multi-speed shaft before. It is not denoted whatsoever which position is what speed and I do not want to risk damaging any of my equipment, so I thought I would inquire. All of my PTO equipment is 540. Any assistant would be greatly appreciated.

1st. gear is 540. All US. implements use this gear. You can run pretty much wide open. 2400Eng. RPMs. I also have multiple speeds 3. Which I had trouble with. But I can now keep 2nd PTO. locked in gear. I use it with my US. Finish mower. A Frontier JD./Woods. And to get 540 in 2nd. is only 1750 rpms. Eng. Speed. 3rd I can use but don't and never messed with except when I was checking to see if it also worked.

Original parts manual states 639, 828, 1097. I would assume that at maximum rpm of 2400. If that is so 540 would be achieved at 2028, 1565, 1181 rpm.

Another alternative I like is the old-school Briggs & Stratton #19200 mechanical tach. About $20~25 mailorder, half that (used) on Ebay. Indestructible, so used should be fine.

You touch it to the object to be measured so it senses vibration. Then rotate the top dial which extends the yellow wire out. When the wire resonates, vibrates, you read rpm on a scale that corresponds to how far the wire is out. Its surprisingly precise, it matches the Yanmar dashboard tach.

1st all the way down. Neutral next up. Next up. 2nd. up 3rd.. I'm glad I don't have to tell you how to shift a 2500. It has 2 shift levers which I can't tell you for sure which is what.. :confused2:

I went to the Hoye website and found the decal 4190 that you mentioned, and yes, that is exactly what I was looking for. I was also attempting to understand each gears PTO speed, but I think "careo63" clarified that for me. Thanks everyone!
